I find these "race to be in before" threads rather amusing. I wonder if we'll be having a "race to get out before the bailiffs arrive" thread after the next couple of Interest rate increases !!!!!!!

People excited about moving - shock horror!!

I won't be racing to get out before the bailiffs arrive - after all this effort I'll be chained to the bannister and they'll have to drag me kicking and screaming.

Still not exchanged!! I'll still be sat here in december and I'm sick of living out of boxes at my parents - but I am signing documents on wednesday (hurray) so perhaps eurovision is achievable after all

Don't see the point anymore in offering advice to people who only want to be agreed with...

We're meant to be exchanging today - but our buyers solicitor has held us up again.... (not to mention our solicitor has been on holiday this week, and the partner covering her work seems to go home at lunchtime every day!).... 100% definite tomorrow apparently, so I've been told. Just like I was told by our buyers solictor he'd be done by easter, then done week after, then ready week after that, then just one more thing, then definitely Monday of this week, then Tuesday, then 100% today, now tomorrow......
Arggggh - I feel like driving to their offices and giving him a piece of my mind..... Lying Toerag!

Just thought that I should inform that we have managed to successfully race in before Easter.. Exchanged and Completed on the day we have to moved out from our rented place on the 5th April. There was no confirmation on this until we received a phone call from the solicitor at 10am that day :)

We were FTB but put down 15% deposit, and was initially informed that we had to exchange a week before completion. All deposit and money went in right on time for that, but our solicitor was not happy with replies from vendor's solicitor and decided to allow time for more information, which explained why we finally exchange and complete same day! (Though solicitor requested money from mortgage provider 5 days before, without an exchange in place).

We are now 3 weeks in the new flat, and love every bit of it! Everyday seems to be a holi'day' now for us and we feel like living in a hotel :)

I'm so glad and would like to say thank you for all the information and guide I received from this thread (and moneysavingexpert in general)! It has been very useful :T

All the best to those who are still in the race!

Peiw - wondered what had happened with your purchase. Good to see you managed to scrape in there

Update from me - I've signed all the documents (whoooooooo) and, as I have no deposit, am exchanging & completing on the same day - so it's looking like next friday (the 4th)
Didn't I joke about being in my new house in time for eurovision??!!!
But once again whoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!! (Actually better not get too excited - yet)
