Race to be in before easter

Finally, we exchanged!!!!! Our offer was accepted on December 4th and vendors were dragging it for a long time - but finally, today we exchanged!!!!
We are completing next Tueday (March 6th). As we are going to do some work in the house, we won't be moving in straight away. As we are moving in from rented accommodation, we can finally give notice to our landlord and start buying the rest of the furniture and appliances!!!! (We got a dining table and TV at the moment and we ordered a sofa, which is supposed to be arriving in 2 weeks and that is all we have).
To tell the truth - it was going for so long, that I don't feel happy now - just relieved is over and we won't be hearing fairy tales from our vendors anymore.Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -
We are hoping to exchange on Friday and complete next Friday. Next week it will be 4 motnhs since we viewed and put a deposit down. It has taken so long and it is a new build Shared Ownership and we are FTB's.
Keep your fingers crossed for me!0 -
Yay, we've just exchanged for completion on Friday (2nd March)!!! :j :j
Has taken just under 8 weeks, which isn't bad, although it could've been done two weeks sooner had our buyers got their money through a bit quicker. Never mind - all sorted now though!!
Carpets are being fitted right now (it's a brand-new build), the van is booked for collection tomorrow night - we're moving ourselves as don't have all that much stuff (and it's so much cheaper).
Have had most of the house stuff packed for two weeks, but we're both off work tomorrow to finish off and get last minute items packed up.
Can't wait!!! :beer:0 -
I'm joining in this race now (but hoping that doing so won't jinx my sale). So far its gone as follows
10/2 - viewed house
12/2 - put in offer (full asking price)
13/2 - Offer accepted (but didn't know until 14/2
14/2 - Solicitor instructed
14/2 - Homebuyer's report requested
16/2 - Homebuyer's survey done
19/2 - Mortgage valuation done
Apparently the valuation was fine just waiting for the mortgage company to send out my offer but I may chase them tonight. Solicitor is waiting for first contract stuff from vendor's solicitor. Lots of thumb twiddling but I'd be most annoyed if searches weren't started this week (or the beginning of next week at the very latest!)0 -
We had an offer accepted for a flat in mid January. Solicitor instructed straight away, mortgage sorted quickly and survey results back by the start of February.
Since then we found after a week of nothing happening that the vendor's solicitor was no longer with the company (seems vendor did not check when the offer was accepted:T ), so by the time he had re-appointed the same solicitor at the new firm, we were a couple of weeks behind.
Our solicitors search at the land registry has since shown that there are several charging orders on the property, so we are now being further delayed as the vendor's solicitor is checking with the chargees if there will be sufficient funds from the sale to cover the charges.
All just a tad frustrating, as the estate agent has been very helpful right through the process (and himself appears to be losing patience with the vendor for being unprepared), our solicitor (with a little pushing) has been relatively efficient, and the mortage and survey have all been sorted quickly and with no fuss.
We are hoping to be in before Easter, but are getting jittery about any other unpleasant surprises that the vendor may come up with...0 -
Waiting for vendor to come back to say if he will pay half of re wire after saying he will not pay full amount (have now found out from electrician that lights aren't even wired up in kitchen, how could vendor not have known that electrical work was needed) anyhow we want to move but end of March this year if poss!! :eek:Wins

Well done to those of you who've exchanged, grr I envy you. ginvzt, I was supposed to be doing everything same time as you, so it's nice to hear you're going well. I *still* haven't exchanged but am doing so today, and completing (and moving) next Friday.
I too no longer feel excited (after a whole week of being told we'll be completing 'tomorrow') and I do feel it's changed my excitement about the house, but to be honest I don't care, I just want it over with now. I *did* the excitement and then had to deal with the disappointment so now I'm not emotionally involved!
At least I'll be in in time for good weather - lots of garden in the new house.0 -
I exchanged last friday and I've just recieved a phonecall to say my house has completed.
And Im moving in tommorrow.0 -
I was hoping we wouldn't have to join the race to be in before easter, but now it's looking that way.
We had our offer accepted on January 9th and were told the vendors wanted to complete in 6 weeks. We've had everything done our end and its now over 8 weeks and we've paid our deposit and are waiting for an exchange to happen.
I'm getting a little impatient now because we felt really rushed and pressured to get things done and now we're waiting on the sellers. Oh well, I knew it wasn't going to be easy0 -
Vendor has now said he will pay half for electrics :j but wants to see if he can get them done any cheaper (fair enough). Also he wants us to move in by end of march so I have given 4 weeks notice today to landlady so will be moving out on 31st march, fingers crossed we have completed by then!!!!Wins
