My wife and I accepted an offer on our flat and had an offer accepted on the house we want last Monday (12th Feb). Everything is moving along nicely so far. I don't expect to complete by Easter, but would love to be in by end May - as my wife is due to give birth (to our first) on July 18th0

We're hoping to be in our new house for Easter! There's no chain at all, which should simplify things. I have to confess that we have held things up a little bit as we didn't instruct our solicitors until we'd had the survey done as we wanted to make sure it was ok as the solicitors wanted £200 to do the searches immediately.
Our offer was accepted at the end of January, but Nationwide took their time processing our mortgage app and arranging the survey.
We have to give notice on our rented house on the 12th of the month, so we want to complete just before the 12th - just before Easter is ideal. We're having a month overlap as the new house needs a lot of work doing.0 -
I should bloomin well hope I'm in by Easter!! We're ready to exchange contracts, waiting for 1 query to be returned and thats it!!
And btw congrats prutter on your new arrival for July!!!:xmastree: :snow_laug Christmas Nutter :snow_laug:xmastree:0 -
Me and my girlfriend are in this race too.
Offer accepted end of jan, mortgage sorted with 2 weeks, valuation done and ok. Had final offer a couple of weeks ago.
Solicitors instructed a few days before final offer came through.
Currently waiting for the other solicitors to find the deeds or something along those lines, have been waiting for this for nearly 2 weeks now with no further news. It's starting to get a bit frustrating now.
It's not a prob for me but my girlfriend has to move out of her current place on march 12th, we were hoping to be able to fit it all in but it's looking less and less likely now, she may have to find something else for a week? 2 weeks? 3? however long?
The waiting is the worst!0 -
It would be nice to be in before Easter...
First property I had an offer accepted on fell through as the vendor took it off the market about 5 months later.
Rented accommodation I am sharing ends this month so all my stuff is going into storage this Saturday and will be staying with a friend until my new place is sorted out.
Cannot be too long now as my offer on property number 2 was accepted middle of January and vendor wanted a quick sale (repo so probably endless problems)
hey ho..the joys of home ownership..:D0 -
she can always move her stuff into a storage place temporarily - much easier to do that and have either a hotel or crash at yours dnrc! = )
Mind you moving once is a pain, moving twice (once into storage once into the new place) will be a pain too!
Always ask the place she's leaving from whether they'd mind staying another week - worked well during my last renting spree...Tim0 -
We're hoping to be in next week!
had offer accepted beginning Jan '07, and had expected to be in by now as our buyers had no chain (sold a property in spain just before xmas) and we're buying a brand-new house.
Unfortunately what we didn't know was that - for some reason - it's taken nearly 6 weeks for our buyers to get their money transferred from Euros into £s, which is ridiculous but apparently not abnormal!
They're supposed to hear this week that the money has been exchanged and is available to use, which is all that remains for us to exchange (again hopefully this week) and complete next week - provisionally Thurs March 1st!
Keeping everything crossed right now that there's no further delay...0 -
We're hoping to be in for the end of next week. We put our house on the market September, sold it at the end of October, had offer accepted mid November. Our buyer didn't instruct solicitors until she'd got her mortgage so our survey was done in January, finally last week she got the additional questions, and now - today in fact - she's supposed to be getting the report & contracts & returning them with a view to exchanging by the end of this week and completing at the end of next. Our vendors have requested to complete around now as they've put a deposit on a place they're renting & want to know it's all steam ahead, luckily our buyer is agreeing (as it's been her delaying it a bit all along - nervous FTB AND a nurse so impossible to get hold of!
Can't wait now, it's been too long....0 -
sounds like money laundering rules to me Willapp - fingers crossed for you!Tim0
