It seems to work OK, but I don't like the massive headings that now accompany each post. This heading has gone from one line to three for every post. Where posts tend to be short you get far fewer posts visible at any one time and you have to do much more scrolling on each page (and I am comparing fixed width with fixed width)
1) The red/green user online button is totally disconnected from the user - it would be better next to the username (to the left of it?).
2) The "Fantastically Fervent MoneySaving Super Fan" text takes up so much space. This could be scrapped, shortened or appear when you hover over a user's stars/rosettes.
3) The join date/posts/thanked data could be moved into a user's signature area (without cutting down on the area available for a signature) and then it could even be switched off in User CP.
Doing all this would mean the data that needs to be displayed in the heading could all be displayed on a single line.0 -
The only irritant I have found with the new design is the heading banner, which (when clicking new posts for example) should my cursor accidentally touch the top banner, a virtual whole page pops up and blocks out main site\forum\logout banner icons.
Once the cursor is removed it re-disappears and you are then free to click on the icons on the logout banner, but it is an irritating unnecessary pop up that serves no purpose whatsoever as you can already click these icons and need no extended banner pop up to do so.
If think that was commented on 3 or 4 times at least in the feedback thread for the previous changes.
It really needs sorting out.
A sensible solution would be to move the breadcrumb trail down so that it is below the "Important - This is an open forum" toolbox.
That would alleviate the problem, and arguably be a more sensible place for the breadcrumb trail anyway.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Just to add also you can no longer easily see which are new posts when you go to a thread. Before you could see easily where new posts started (as in posts that are new since you last looked at the thread) and where the old posts ended.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0

This is actually very clear and readable for me.
A few more tweaks and this'll be my default layout I think.0 -
MUCH better for viewing on a mobile phone so thank you for that0

So I'm not sure that it achieves your basic aim of getting more text on display at any one time - I think the only way to do that is to get rid of the "adverts" down the right hand side...something which I assume falls under the banner of "major re-design".
Can I ask when you say current version are you talking about fixed or stretchy - as I dont see how the new version can show less than the prior fixed versionMartin Lewis, Money Saving Expert.

important! please remember we've asked for feedback is between the current fixed width version and the new fixed width version. If you've been using the stretchy then feel free to comment but please let us know or it often makes noMartin Lewis, Money Saving Expert.

Don't like it, far too much wasted blank space at either side of the posts!0

if the text in the green ^^^ is in a faded grey, it would be nice; there's no need imo for the title and statistics to have such prominance
other than that loving it
ps: the avis look littel, I suppose we've to come to terms with that0
