As one of the complainers at the first launch, my intial reaction is that although I'm still inclined towards the stretchy version, this is much better than the first redesign and I'll give it a go for a few days and could probably get used to it.
A small suggestion - giveb that space is more of a premium now, could the buttons and prescence light at the bottom of posts be made smaller? They seem somewhat out of proportion in the narrower style. There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
It's for the many and not the few. Be sure it's out there looking for you.
In every town, in every state. In every house and every gate.
Wth every precious smile you make. And every act of kindness.

Hi Fifer,
Yes, I believe that is very much part of the thinking for the redesign proper.

I know the site is changing to the normal 'standard' (like twitter, BBC, newspaper websites etc) but my problem with it is that those sites have all their info within the center bit (sorry, i dont know the official terms) but with MSE, its all squashed into a small area, then the sidebar information takes up the rest of the room.
Now i like the info on the sidebar, so i dont want to see it go, but could it be moved, or made smaller so that the main bit can be bigger? If not, im sticking with the stretchy version, as my eyes are not good enough for the squashed system. (and im having trouble with twitter now they have changed their set up as well!) At least we have the option here to be on the stretchy version.0 -
The width of the posts is vastly improved - thank you!
However (come on, you knew it was coming), the writing in the middle and at the end - the thanks counts and joining dates, etc - looks a bit lost floating in the middle of nowhere. I know you're redesigning the site so this could be addressed then. That's my only criticism. I haven't had any of the glitches reported.
Oh yes! I also prefer the new 'sticky' icons.
Btw, the new fixed width fits almost perfectly into half of my screen so I can view two windows without scrolling.0 -

Yes, I understand your point. The sidebar is now weighting the site heavily on one side. We will definitely address this in the redesign.the writing in the middle and at the end - the thanks counts and joining dates, etc - looks a bit lost floating in the middle of nowhere. Thanks. It definitely needs some work as we develop it in these areas and will be addressed. Glad you like the sticky icons.

The hashtag at the side of the post number has disappeared. I think it needs to be there. Also the number itself is quite small and reads as though it has something to do with the user's post count - perhaps it could be placed in a circle, or similar?0

You are probably aware of this, but the "newbie alert" badge fails to work in a miserable fashion with the new design.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

It seems ok to me.
Only thing that has stood out to me so far has been that some users avatars look like they have been squashed/resized.I'd like to teach the World to sing in perfect Harmony:j
