Old thread: 2012 Forum redesign

Hi folks,
A couple of weeks ago when we launched the new masthead, we changed the forum to become fixed width. We got a bit of a barrage from some regular users about it.
We've listened to some of the feedback and made some tweaks which give more post space while still remaining fixed width.
DO NOTE WE STILL PLAN A FULL REDESIGN, THESE ARE JUST MINOR QUICK FIXES TO HELP
The plan is to hopefully switch the current version to the new version in a week - but we wanted to feedback first.
Please Try The New Version and Feedback
Click this to switch to new version
As always it'd be great if you used it for a couple of days to get used to it, rather than just instant reaction
Click this to switch back (if you want to - no need)
You need to be logged in for the switch to work
A couple of important points before you feedback
1. Please only feedback on the difference between these two version - not the stretchy version - that's not changing and will remain full supported, though not the default.
2. When we auto-switch people the plan is only to switch those already on the fixed version
3. If you're on the stretchy version and want to try this, use this link if you then want to switch back to stretchy
4. We will listen to suggestions, but these are only quick tweaks at the moment, a full redesign is coming, so we can't do anything major.
5. Please report any glitches
Thanks for your time
Martin
IMPORTANT! PLEASE REMEMBER WE'VE ASKED FOR FEEDBACK IS BETWEEN THE CURRENT FIXED WIDTH VERSION AND THE NEW FIXED WIDTH VERSION. IF YOU'VE BEEN USING THE STRETCHY THEN FEEL FREE TO COMMENT BUT PLEASE LET US KNOW OR IT OFTEN MAKES NO SENSE

Hi folks, sorry I pressed the button on posting before the actual technology had been switched on should work now.
And OneYorkshireLass - we hope the redesign will make it much easier to use. Yet we will allow those who want to keep the old style.Martin Lewis, Money Saving Expert.

Thought I was going nuts.
(That may be possible as I use DT a lot)The atmosphere is currently filled with hypocrisy so thick that it could be sliced, wrapped, and sold in supermarkets for a decent price and labeled, 'Wholegrain Left-Wing, Middle-Class, Politically-Correct Organic Hypocrisy'.0 -

That's great, thank you :T
It's very ... flat. If that makes sense. In the old version the posts 'pop' more, making them easier to follow.0 -
It does look quite nice but I prefer the username part at the side of the post rather than at the top.Mortgage free Jan 2012

I don't like it, sorry. There's too much white space with nothing going on, it'd be murder looking at it if I had a hangover!
Edit - I can't switch back, you tricked me!There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -
