hi Piq.. does that nasty stuff have Valarian in it? it smells and tastes awful.
As a chronic insomniac and sometimes user/abuser of sleeping pills, the only thing I have found to snap me out of a spell is staying awake as long as I possibly can and then collapsing about 3 am and forcing myself to get up at 6am for one day and that seems to get me back sleeping throough the night for a few weeks.
Yes, it does and dogwood, I can't imagine that tastes nice either! I wish I could describe fully how truly awful the stuff tastes and it keeps repeating too

Oh Piq I know that scenario well scary isn't it. And annoying after a time. I managed it by getting into a routine, doing some yoga stretches before bed, usual stuff like no caffeine in afternoons no food for 3 hours before bed, but I found meditation helped a lot. Make your out breath longer than the in breath, 4 in 6 out close your eyes and focus on the space behind your eyes every time your mind wanders or races go back to breathing.
Once I broke the cycle it got better, hate to state the obvious but it is stress related you know.
I know it's stress related, but I need a job to cure it and then a couple of months down the line the job will be causing stress :rotfl:Honey if you are having trouble sleeping how about giving your mind something else to focus on like going back to writing your blog or some more Captain stories. I know you don't feel up to it at the mo but the relief may actually prove to be therapeutic x
I'm finding it hard to get my head round writing at the moment, I think it's all coming down to the same thing, worry about not having a job. Applications will be slow to process as it's the holiday season, so I should relax a bit more.I sometimes get that horrible waking up with a start thing too ....
This is my self hypnosis thingy, got from, of all places, the Jonathan Ross show (the only good thing?):
Get comfortable and relax. Then visualise the number 10, and silently say "Ten" to yourself - keep the visualisation, gently push away any other thoughts. Do that for a few minutes, then repeat the exercise, using the number 9. Carry on down the numbers ... I have never ever got below 7. Even typing this has got me yawning! Good luck, sleep well ... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
This is a bit like missrir's meditation suggestion. I'm going to give it go tonight. I forgot about it last nightTotal debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

I have to tell you, banana skins are the way to go for healthy blooming plants. The herbs are huge, as are the geraniums. The bay tree is transformed and I have nasturstians winding their way around the picket fence. Even the roses are looking better for them.
There haven't been so many bananas recently, just one or two a dayand a few wrinkly nectarines. My breakfasts have never been so healthy
Managed to lose another lb last week - hurrah! And found £100 loitering in an account I finally got a new password forI must contact ING as I know I have money there, but have forgotten all my login details.
Finally put seven items on eb*y and have bids on all but one item, however, that does have eight watchers. Already the total is up to £51 and there is still a day and half to go. I have another nine of the same to list! But I need a free listing weekend.
I've another stint at Pr*t today, but it's a short one, only until 3:30 so I'll get time to ride the Captain, must pick him up some carrots before work.
Hope you are all well.

Hi Piq, you must be very, very proud of your brave daughter. She's tackling life exactly as you hoped she would. It won't stop you missing her of course, but she will be missing home too, so your Skype times will be so, so special
. And you won't always be unemployed/broke/in debt (even though it sometimes feels like it!) so you have WONDERFUL holidays to look forward to.
Her moving could be affecting your sleep, so it might right itself once she's settled. And if not, at least you'll be available for Skyping during her daylight hours:D

I am very proud! She is a very determined lady, when she was sixteen she took her maths GCSE three times until she got the result she wanted, and maths was her most hated subject!
I know I won't always be in this situation, but it does seem so at times, there is sense in that sentence somewhere!

Only my front garden is looking good and that's because it's tiny, the back needs a lot of work, but I'm going to start a small area at a time, starting from the patio outside the living room. I've done some weeding this morning....
Neddy's are expensive L.....
I bathed the Captain yesterday, it was too hot to ride. It was a very thorough bath, much to his horror. I even washed his long forelock with a sponge and soap. He looked quite funny with it lathered up. Even funnier when he suddenly pulled the end of the lead rope, untying himself, to pursue his great love the Shetland who was being taken for a walk by the children. The Captain whinnying and dripping soap bubbles over a tiny irate horse who actually turned and kicked out at him was a sight to behold.....
Later the Shetland was found standing underneath the Captain using him as a sunshade and him, the great dope, quite happy to be used thus!Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

I am inspired by Mrs H and am going to pay the small amounts of money I find or come by off my Nat West card it currently has a balance of 2431.38. It is the smaller of my two cards left, but has the greater interest rate. Because of my circumstances I can't pay off huge amounts, but I think it'll make me feel better paying off a £1 here and there. I found £1 in the car park yesterday, so that's going to the card.
A stint at Pr*t today, I'm getting bored there, but I must work for the self esteem. I've found a job to apply for and will do that shortly.
I've done some weeding in the back garden. And made a sweet potato chilli, currently in the slow cooker [the sweet potato was looking a little sorry for itself in the fridge and had to be used up] It may be for dinner, it may go in the freezer, I will decide later.
The Bear is hating the hot weather, he just lies on a cool stone slab all day. He seems to be getting forgetful and clumsy, which is worrying. He is still eating, as long as I stand next to him. I am loathe to take him to the vet as it distresses him so much. He is quite happy as long as he knows where I am so I will leave it for now and just keep an eye on him.
Sold four items on eb*y totaling £61 and still have another three items to go [not that anyone has paid yet] I have at least another 20 items left that I am confident will sell, but lack the enthusiasm to list

Morning, been away so just having a quick catch up. Sorry to hear about your daughter but as the others have said sounds like you have set her a great example and hopefully it wont be long before you can go over there and visit.
Love the captain and the shetland antics, think thats next on the list for the hoss getting her used to water!! Baldrick hated it, bathing was a 2 man operation a bridle and knowing you were going to get very wet and dragged aroundDebt 13-1-25 - £39K!!!
