I still have the Bear! He is going blind and may or may not have the start of feline dementia.
Him not being able to see explains a lot of the problems, especially the falling off chairs, beds etc and the misjudging his jumps onto the bed. Also his lack of enthusiasm about going out the front of the house. I will just look after him better and make sure he feels safe. He's got the back garden which he still likes, it is quiet and doesn't have the threats that the front does. I feel better about him being in the back and not near any roads. His days of adventuring are done!
He has some tablets that will help with any symptoms of dementia, if that is what he has got. Unfortunately the tests the vet wanted to put him through would cost £250 with little to show for it. The vet agreed he is fine at the moment and we'll review him in six weeks. That gives me a chance to get some money together, just in case.
I'll not let him suffer, but he is happy, just clumsy, he's not lost weight, in fact he's put it on. He will be more distressed about having to stay at the vets for tests, I think he's happier here. Am I making the right decision though?Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

Piq,
was good to speak to some one objective, have spoken to them twice and had over the phone feedback, also a 1-2-1 last week.
Didn't tell me anything new but gave me a bit of an extra push as to what I was already doing - you can phone them direct on
0800 100 900 and they will guide you what to do do next.
On meeeting with the advisor last friday I expained that I'd never heard of them, she said they should be given as a resouce from the Job Centre. Then explained that most of her appointments were mandatory referals from JSA for people with no experience !!
I found it helpful so give it a go and pass the message on to others - they are funded by the taxpayer so use it as much as you can !!:T
Hope this helps others too - any questions then let me know !
Onwards and upwards people !!
MM x
I will give them a ring. I'm seeing my adviser at the job centre and will mention it to see if he knows about it. Certainly, he's never mentioned it to date.Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

Babe you are absolutely making the right decision about Bear. My friend has a cat called mia who blind and she can get shadows sometimes. but she doesnt let Mia out.
She said a blind cat will be so much more secure in it's own home. Lauren just carries the cat to the bed at night.
Bear will need lots of cuddle and reassurance from you. Lauren said he wants you to stand by him while he eats because he trusts you to protect the food while he is eating it.

You are most definitely making the right decision about Bear Piq. It is clear you love him very much and clear, as NL says, he trusts you implicitly.
Hope he improves or at least doesn't get any worse now he's got tablets.
Hugs and kisses/smooths for you and Bear xTargets
