I think that there are means and ways of telling people that they are not allowed to bring hot drinks in. We tell them at the front desk, and politely ask them to either drink their coffee before interview, or just place it on the side and pick it up on the way out. I am suprised that you were dealt with like you were and rather unhappy at your treatment.
However a few spoil it for the majority, some sad git actually urinated in a coffee cup and threw it in the advisors face. Now even though that is unpleasant to say the least.... That could of been acid.. I will not not stop reading your diary, but what you witness occasionally ie.... aggression to staff we witness on a regular basis.. And I have to say the majority of staff are not rude, very helpful and try desperately to help people in sometimes very difficult circumstances. Common sense should always prevail and maybe a sign up at the front of the jobcentre should be put up... I will suggest this as a national thing. I do get fed up on this board of people constantly knocking the jobcentres, of course mistakes are made, of course they should be rectified but the rudeness I read on these boards, make the people who are writing them no better. Obviously this is not you..... :A

I know it's not the majority of folk there, indeed, I'm building quite a good relationship with my adviser, he knows he can't help me in my quest for a job, but is trying to provide moral support.

It wasn't easy in the early days, but I was, and still am, upset at the situation I find myself in. However, I always speak to people the way I wish to be spoken to. I am not better than any one else, nor am I any worse than anyone else. I never forget my manners! :D

I write up my experiences because I find them either amusing or absurd. I certainly wouldn't like you to disappear bast, your advise and friendship is something I value.

Oh Piq, in some respects that is priceless but I will continue subscribing in case you chase me up with a plastic stirring spatula!

I would have told the security numpty to get his paws off me how very dare they man handle anyone? Also so glad to see they were on the ball and clearly doing their job properly to prevent you from getting into the building with such a dangerous object in the first place!

Whilst I do understand there are some less desirable members of the society we inhabit there are ways to achieve required compliance and shoving someone out of the door would NOT be one of those. Perhaps you should suggest a good job would be marketing the requirements of individuals entering the premises so it is clearly understood?

That aside I hope Pr3t is all going well and Captain is enjoying himself. Doglet is in puppy heaven here - two nights in a row being allowed to sleep on our bed! He now of course asleep on his own bed - the hour awake and watching us unpack the car was too much for a small dog, far too tiring and now he is back to sleep!

It will be a silicone spatula, I try to keep up with the times :rotfl:

Bless doglet in bed with you! I have the Bear in bed with me every night. I can't persuade him to sleep in his bed. He snores horribly and leaves black fur all over my cream coloured bedding  He also seems to hog the centre of the bed, leaving me hanging onto the side of the bed with one buttock...

Oh yes one small (10 inch at the shoulder JRT) can take over an entire superking sized bed ... how I am not sure. The other night DH and I were at opposite sides of the bed and the JRT was sideways in the middle, paws outstretched having a right old yip and moan about rabbits getting away from him in the dreams. :rotfl:

We have chocolate bedding with white JRT hairs, perhaps we need to have colour coordinated bedding to animals plan here?

  • at the job centre experience! I have a good friend that works as an advisor in one and she tells me of the types of people that come in....usually positive stories i have to say (maybe she's been lucky lol) but the odd one or two that she has that are naughty and turn up drunk, abusive to everyone & filthy dirty makes me thankful i don't work there with her! I'm still a bit shocked they marched YOU out though! I mean i've never met you but you don't describe yourself as one of the 'naughty' types my friend has met in the JC lol!

I hope you had a good weekend at pret xx

I once bought a carpet to match my cat. The old carpet was dark green and the cat....wasn't. The sofa was also green and I spent many a moment wondering fancifully about the cat, a bucket and some green food colouring. But she shed so much that it would have had to be a weekly bath and I'm not sure how many of those I could have managed without being cut to ribbons. (Answer : approximately none).

So, there I was, knelt by the pile of sample squares of carpet with an envelope of cat fur in one hand, rubbing a small amount of the fur into various carpet squares trying to find the one where it "disappeared". That was when the manager approached me...

:T:T:rotfl::rotfl:I have just had the most fantastic uplift to my day courtesy of this mental imagery - thank you! I have also been know to do the same thing. I discovered the best sort of carpet is that modern wool mix berber without a pile - although DH located a cracking carpet for the living room - blue with brown and cream flecks - hides all sorts of mischief!

I cannot work out how to post pics but the JRT looks about the same size as mine with the same attitude!
