Congratulations to Caroline, what a great opportunity!

And Piq - this stupid agency. It does not matter ONE BIT if your contact is away! They have a boss, presumably? (unless they *are* the boss?? In which case a phone call to head office is in order!). Bosses are surely there to deal with this very situation! The least they can do is apologise, and promise to get the person whose fault it was to apologise too, and also apologise to the employer for wasting their time.

(sorry, I'll go away and stop getting cross now! :o) xx

Wahoo! Daff's back and cross

I've written a strongly worded letter to the CEO of the parent company, it being the leading outsourcing company that have helped so many people lose their jobs to outsource companies in the Philippines, India etc...

It is lovely to see you again, how are you? What have you been up to?

Thanks everybody!! I'm so excited about this new job, it's in Events, so I will be a party animal!! But I do think that it shows that you're never too old... so often I hear of people saying 'I won't get a job, I'm over 40/50 etc', and I got this one, in a whole new area for me a couple of months off my 58th birthday!

Now.. I just need to lose a few stone so that I can buy some nice work clothes to go to all these events in...:rotfl:

Errr darling, you know I adore you, right? But unless the job doesn't start for a year, without surgery to lose a leg or so, a few stone is not going to disappear quite that quickly :rotfl:

You've already proved you're delightful and you've had a job created just for you, how you are is good enough!

I decided to move a few bits of furniture around last night and ended up making myself an office in the sitting room! it took a lot longer than half an hour, as I'd intended, so I missed posting on here - oops But I do have a cosy office, might encourage me to work a bit harder....

I've found what looks like the perfect temporary job, but I'm afraid to respond to it, perhaps it's my covering letter that relegates me to the bin on nearly every application? Either way, I've got the heebie jeebies about applying for it. It'll have to wait until Monday anyway as I'm working two six hour shifts this weekend, so I'll be tired from that, plus, in order to save money I'm parking a good mile away from Pr*t. I'm hoping Granny will be kind enough to drop some wine off for this evening, I think I deserve a glass....

All this hard physical work [well being on my feet all day] combined with the pedometer has meant that three pounds has fallen somewhere by the wayside :j Don't any of you pick it up, you have been warned there's an excess three pounds lying around. On this occasion I intend being a litter-bug and I'm leaving it there, I am not going to pick it up...

During my room shifting I found a £25 body shop voucher from my birthday last year. I'm going to stock up on some body lotion and foot spray later.

I've saved this piece of news until last as I'm afraid some of you may unsubscribe from my diary :(

As you may or may not know I work in Pr*t and get unlimited free coffee :T The job centre owe me for my travel expenses to the interview fiasco on Tuesday.

At the end of my shift I took a takeaway coffee with me, the cup with the lid. I enjoy the coffee on my walk back to the car or bus-stop, can't drink it during the shift as it makes me too hot. I decided I'd pop into the Job Centre and see if my adviser was free to pay me the money. Walked in, was nearly to his desk, when I was stopped by two security guards and asked to leave the building....

Somewhat taken aback by the fact that I had a security guard either side of me and one was guiding me towards the door with a hand on my back I didn't explode or stand my ground. I did ask why....

....and the reason, I was carrying a drink....

I was escorted out. I wasn't asked to leave the drink somewhere and come back nor was it explained why I couldn't carry a drink with me. I wonder if I've now got an ASBO  Is a drink a deadly weapon? Might be next time....

So, my friends, you are on the diary of an official reprobate, it needed two security guards to get me off the premises! I'm dangerous when armed with coffee - be afraid, be very afraid....

well a hot coffee thrown in somebodies face may well be seen as dangerous and then there is always the possibility that some sick person may well be carrying something else in that cup that is intended to cause harm. I have friends and family who work for DWP and having heard the horror stories from their side of the fence as it where, then I can understand why you have been escorted out. Unfortunately it is the behaviour of a minority that dictates how we are treated sometimes. Too early for a soapbox so I will get off and retreat to lurking:o

Its another fine example of Worlds Gone Mad syndrome. The OH carries a large knife and several large, heavy and pointy metal implements with him at all times at work but is not allowed a plastic fork to eat his lunch as thats classed as a dangerous weapon.

The interview screw-up sucks. The right job will come along eventually. Keep your chin up chuck.

    Hi Piq ( and friends!)

Well once again I am hopelessly behind on the diaries..but can see that you've been &uggered about by the JC etc. that is such carp. So sorry mate. Things will get better!

Well done on the office move..sounds like a good idea. Moving stuff about and decluttering always makes me feel more focussed.

Hope you're having a good weekend..even if you are doing shifts at P.
