Morning Piq, hope you are feeling positive today! I wanted to tell you my news, because it shows we can all do it... I had a phonecall today from the people who interviewed me on Tuesday. Apparently, even though I didn't get the job, they liked me so much that they have created another role for me! Not quite as much money, but it's a brilliant opportunity, a sideways shift for me, so new experiences and opportunities.

And if I can do it (at nearly 58 ), so can you!!

    Yey, fantastic news x

Sorry, Im a bit behind on your diary and the interview fiasco. What a total bloody nightmare, I am so angry on your behalf. A few days late, I know but bloody angry nonetheless.

Amazing how there is suddenly nobody available to speak to you at the Agency, isnt that always the way ? I think was really good of you to put the note in the post to the interviewer, you never know your luck, they may just decide to see you again and give you a proper interview.

Was there another contract possibly in the offing or have I got that wrong with all my dipping in and out of the diaries recently ?

Oh and Caroline, well done on coming second ! You obviously made a good impression, fingers crossed the next interview will be the one ! x

Bless! Don't get irate on my behalf, we don't want you falling off another chair do we?

I haven't heard back from the other potential, I dropped a friendly 'hello how's things' type email this morning. No reply. Nor any response from the agency, considering it's one of the largest and best known, it's pretty poor.

I did some admin today. Not as much as I wanted to as one bit took hours! OMG the council tax benefit claim form :eek::eek: It took forever and I now have to take umpteen bits of documentary proof and backup down to the town hall before my claim can be processed. It has to be the longest form ever, how do people ever manage to do benefit fraud? It's so complicated, not to mention boring....

Also wrote to the mortgage insurance company to check whether part-time work would impact my claim.

I must claim my interview travel costs back, it cost me £25 in train fair, and that was off peak

I'm feeling very tired at the moment, I've got several bites down my arm and it's swollen up and feels very stiff, I think it's some sort of allergic reaction. I'm now wondering if a stiff drink would cure it :D I've already fallen asleep twice since four o'clock:o which is very unlike me. It's still too warm to go to bed though...

    Evening Piq,

long time no speak !! Congrats on the job news :)

I was reminded to look up your diary whilst filling in my 'what have I done to look for a job' forms ready for the job centre in the morning.

At least I now go at 9am so up and done with and ready to start the hunt all over again.

Have had some positives but no job offer yet . . been for a 3rd interview for a job this morning to meet with the MD and have a look around a new site . . that's gotta be promising in my eyes, and as you have mentioned, I e-mailed him to thank him for taking the time to meet with me . .

It's a male dominated job role historically so for once I'm hoping for some positive karma.:T
Good luck for any forthcoming ventures, should there be any good stories from the folk at JC I will pass them on, might cheer someone up !!

Onwards and Upwards and continued sucess to all . .

Hmm well I think a few sips of Piriton combined with a very stiff drink, and an early night may just do the trick. Lots of mozzies around, I have been bitten to !!!!!!y and back and they dont usually like me much, its Mr Pinot they usually go for ! :rotfl:

I am calmer than I was now, but will type this standing up just incase of another chair mishap !!

Hope you feel better soon xxxx

Hiya Mely good to see you!

Well done on getting to third interview that sounds very promising.

I hate that patronising little book, in fact, I don't use it. I prefer to print off a spreadsheet and give them that to look at. I do feel that I will never get another job at the moment, but I think that's because I'm tired.

I always did well in the male dominated jobs. I turned myself into a cross between mother, matron and a dominatrix, never had any back-chat....

Congratulations to Caroline, what a great opportunity!

And Piq - this stupid agency. It does not matter ONE BIT if your contact is away! They have a boss, presumably? (unless they *are* the boss?? In which case a phone call to head office is in order!). Bosses are surely there to deal with this very situation! The least they can do is apologise, and promise to get the person whose fault it was to apologise too, and also apologise to the employer for wasting their time.

(sorry, I'll go away and stop getting cross now! :o) xx

Thanks everybody!! I'm so excited about this new job, it's in Events, so I will be a party animal!! But I do think that it shows that you're never too old... so often I hear of people saying 'I won't get a job, I'm over 40/50 etc', and I got this one, in a whole new area for me a couple of months off my 58th birthday!

Now.. I just need to lose a few stone so that I can buy some nice work clothes to go to all these events in...:rotfl:
