I've just received my first £72 cashback (on a Virgin £360 total cashback) - here's the timetable for what it's worth:

First claim submitted by Royal Mail Special Delivery with consequential loss Insurance : 22/3/07

Royal mail confirmed delivered : 23/3/07

Received all original bills (but NO original despatch note) back in my enclosed SAE on 26/4/07

Received e-mail assuring BACS payment to original bank details on 9/5/07

Confirmed received by my bank on 11/5/07.

Painless if you follow the rules strictly, copy ALL documents on both sides, use Royal mail Special Delivery with consequential Loss insurance to the FULL value of the TOTAL claim for EVERY claim, diarise on your calender or as I do on computer Outlook EVERY date for claim submission for one week before it's actually due in case of some problem but above all - be patient.

Final advice - cover your backside with photocopies, photocopies, photocopies of EVERYTHING and use Royal mail Special Delivery - yes with five claims it's going to cost you £25 for postage costs but factor this into your original calculation of the cashback deal. If you use Quidco, look upon this as the reimbursement in advance of the postal costs - if it doesn't add up then don't do the deal - simple as.

Good luck, stay calm, don't ring them - pointless, you want any communication in writing for 'evidence'.

If you are confident you have followed and complied with ALL the terms and conditions WITHOUT THE FAINTEST exception then stay calm and follow the excellent advice on page one of this thread regarding the issuing of a POLITE 14 day 'letter before action', then without further notice after 14 days the on-line small clams summons itself for the FULL amount of the years cashback claim plus SCC costs, as as far as I am concerned the 'one fail invalidates' rule applies both ways.

Remember if you post a 'but I forgot this' OR 'I was only one day late' OR 'but I used normal post' OR 'but I rang them and they promised X, Y and Z but they didn't' OR 'My Mum's disabled and really needs this' post, it doesn't count for anything - TMO need cashback claims to fail for them to survive and if you don't follow the rules to the letter then you lose.

Good luck and I hope this recount of my experience helps.

Thanks gazwood, it's interesting that they appear to be paying by BACS at last.

They have been making the odd payment by BACS for months.

In my e mail from them acknowleding my claim has been accepted, there was no mention of a BACS payment.

Is anyone else having delays in getting cash back for mobile outlet through quidco? I ordered the phone through quidco in early March and we are in May now and the status still says Tracked*.

I too received my first cashback at 6 months in January by BACS. When I submitted my claim in November I had an email acknowledging my claim saying I would receive a cheque within 28 days. Early January I emailed them to chase and they paid me by BACS a few days later.

I have also just had an email from them acknowledging receipt of my 11th bills which they have filed. Month 12 goes off soon and that will be the end of my dealings with TMO. I don't feel confident in them anymore - just based on instinct after sucessfully claim 100% cash back for the last 5 years (with other companies too).

100% cash back with decent phones now very thin on the ground. Anyone recommend any companies?

Of course, the one thing we all want to know is whether Mar<'s strategy worked.

I'd have thought we'd have heard from him by now...
    What was my strategy?

I’m grateful to you for posting on here your personal experience (so far!) of grappling with TMO and I agree with most of what you advise.

You’re welcome, was there any particular bit of what I advised you specifically didn't agree with ?
    BrendaY wrote: »

What, exactly, did you do, yourself, between those dates, after your cashback became outstanding? And when? The detail and chronology of the action that you took in that situation would be most helpful to those in this position, if you could be kind enough to relate them.

I didn't 'do' anything except didn't go into hysterical overdrive the day my cashback became technically 'due'.

I'm aware as are most contributors to this thread TMO are well behind with their administration and payments and fully expected it to run late.

I would probably have allowed the situation to go double the timescale they advise before resorting to 14 day 'Letter before action' and eventual SCC summons for the full years cashback plus costs.

I wouldn’t, as you do, be minded to describe that as “painless”.

No chasing up, no e-mails, no telephone calls, no PMing TMO Rep, no banging the desk, no hysterics - just an element of patience and the realisation that these people are running way behind their own stated timescales.

I would still in my case define my personal scenario as 'painless'.

Hope that adequately answers your query :D

    Mobile Outlet,

I submitted a claim last month.
I sent recorded delivery and have tracked it on royalmail.com and see it has been signed for.
I enclosed a letter with my claim asking for a response in 9 days.

I have receive know confirmation of it being processed, let alone seen the cheque in the post.

    What is the latest?
