Thanks folks - I should have been more specific on why we have to be there. This is the wedding of Mr BR's son, my step-son, and therefore we both have/need to be there. He's recently moved to the south coast (which is where his fiancee's family live) and they both have jobs down there now. We're talking about 6 hours drive, one way.
Re: new outfits, I hadn't even thought of clothes, or presents!! Just that we can't get there cos of the cost of it all. They even want us to visit before then but I can't see that happening as some months we run out of money before payday so saving up is a real issue.

    Hi

I wonder if you do Valued Opinions surveys? I seem to be able to get up to £10 payout evry month or so and always opt for John Lewis vouchers. Just thought that might be an option for a wedding present.

Yes, I do these but rarely seem to be eligible. I think I must live in the wrong part of the country or something...

    GRUMBLE!!!

So, we switched how we paid for our internet/telephone from separately to a 'bundle' which gives us a fixed rate each month. Great, we thought, until the bill came in yesterday and it's over twice as much as it should be - £91!!!!!
The 'bundle' price will be £40 a month, with free calls to everywhere you're likely to need all day, every day and a certain amount of broadband as well - cheaper, belive it or not, than we were paying for the same thing in two separate bills.
We rang them up and said 'Oi' and they said that it's backdated and paid in advance, so *next* month should be £40 but this month is £90.
NO-ONE told us this, and we'd spoken to easily 4 people when asking questions before setting it up as we wanted to make sure how much it was going to be, and when it came out.
By trying to save ourselves money, we've made it worse for ourselves, not sure how we're going to manage to find an extra £50 to cover it.

That's not good - I'd say a letter of complaint might be in order. Also, are you still in a 'cooling off' period? There might be an option to pull out if you are.

I'm sorry it had you up at such an hour. Hope you got some rest later.

    Thanks Migs,

Mr BR was talking about a letter of complaint, but the thing is we don;t want to pull out of it as, it will work out cheaper, but just not for this month, apparently.
It's a right kick in the teeth though as we'd been thinking how well we'd been doing this month!

If only they'd actually told us, we might have been able to budget for it in advance.

    Hi folks,

Anyone still remember me? (probably not)

Well, we're still holding on, just, but we have so many things that need doing that we joust don;t have the money for.
The sofa need replacing, the fence needs replacing and the car is messing about again.
Mr BR has had a salary DROP of £120 a month!! This means that our payments have gone down again and we're looking at *28 years* of DMP!!
No wonder I've been diagnosed with bloody depression!
