So many of us stress the small stuff and it makes it worse when there's major stuff as well... I wouldn't say that's not 'normal'. DS has a card from a training course which he kept and it begins with 'Where is this on a scale of 1 - 10?', which I sometimes find helps me.

It takes work to change our ways of seeing the world around but it's so rewarding to be free of some of the stressors. :) I hope it yields results for you fast. :)

  • I forget sometimes to only worry about the things that I can affect and let go of the things that I can't. Even though it's hard. I really hope that it helps, and it's nice to see you back and posting.

    Thanks,
Mr BR did indeed enjoy the cake (and still is) and the weekend was lovely, apart from one hiccup when a waitress literally dropped a tray of 6 pots of tea on me. Scalded me and although it could have been worse, I'm still in pain3 days later.

That's awful! Not the cake - the tea! I hope they gave you some sort of compensation? If not, it's worth complaining because it sounds as though they need to review how they do things.

Hope the scalds are better soon.

  • oh gosh BR that sounds awful with the tea. Even though i dis-like the compensation culture that is growing in our country in cases like this some sort of compensation should be paid out!! That is really shocking! I hope you are feeling better now xxx

Thanks folks, only a little pain now.
I had said at the time that it had been an accident, the waitress I've discovered since, was 17 and new and, obviously, hadn't be trained properly. Not her fault but the manager's. I was a bit disappointed that they didn't offer a gesture of goodwill in the respect of some money off for my parents who had held a party there that day for about 30 people. I know my mother had popped in to see how the waitress was as she got scalded as well on her arm, and apparently 'reassured the manager' about improvement of my scaled as well. I rather wish she hadn't done so as now I don't feel I can write and request a goodwill gesture from them.

Having a money panic as well as we had to pay £100 for a new exhaust on Friday (and we owe the garage a further £26 payable on pay-day) but it means we have barely £100 to see us through to the end of the month for food, petrol and anything unforeseen. (End of the month being the 24th for us). It's probably plenty, but doesn't feel like it is..
