  • afternoon br :) sometimes you just have to get out and say s*d it all and let your hair down (or walk in the rain with ice creams, whatever lol) ;)

Do you pay for all your bills at the beginning of the month? If so why don't you divide whatever you have by 4 (or 5 if 5 week month) and take out one weeks worth and that can be for food/petrol/entertainment etc. If you run out you run out but you know you only have a few days at the most before you can get some more money out and start again. Rather than panicking for a whole month you can just take weekly amounts i found this used to help me and still does if i'm having a bad month money wise xx

    That's quite a good idea.
We pay for all the bills on DD throughout the month, but I know how much we have left after those are gone, we take them off first, if that makes sense and then have the monthly budgets for food/petrol/everything else.
I then count it down over the course of the month.
We buy a big shop at the beginning of the month and then get 'top-up' shops as and when (always with a list).

What we could do is do a weekly shop, divide, as you say, the money up into weeks instead. Psychologically that might be better, you never know!

Today's 'top-up' shop cost about £30 - Aldi and Asda combined. However, Mr BR has now gone to Tesco for some petrol, and some coffee *sigh*

I think DFW's idea of dividing your budgets up weekly is a really good idea BR and may well work nicely for you.

Yes I agree, a nice win on the National would be just what the doctor ordered wouldnt it !! Maybe we should have all pooled our 2p's and put on joint bet on !!:rotfl:

We divide ours into weeks which we take out in cash and that works for us.

You could give it a go for a couple of weeks to see if it works? If not you could go back to how you do it at the moment.

Like the idea of a National win... I have no idea what's good though so don't ask me for recommendations! :)
