    Oh Rose

Sorry only just catching up with posts from the past few days.

As others have said and rightly so companies cant have what we haven't got and in this day and age they need to realise that those of us on DMP's are at least trying to clear our debts even if it takes a while.

Im glad you have found that it may be £20 instead £45, one way you could look at it is to break it down to weekly slots so that's £5 a week.
(It may not help but I have found if I can dissect things a little it does)

Very glad to hear Mr BR is begining to understand more.

Readings Mrs P post (310) I know how difficult it is to not be so totally focused on your debt. Even though I work as soon as I get in I seem to be on the pc checking my balances against my spreadsheets (even if I know there will be no movement) and you would think I had enough of figures working in finance all day .

As others have said honey chin up, Easter is nearly upon us and you have done so well with giving chocie up for Lent.

    Take care

Mr BR tells me that as far as he remembers, the fence was already there when he moved in 20 odd years ago, so he has no idea whose fence it is.

Isnt it something to do with , if the fence posts are actually in your garden, that fence is yours, and if they are in the neighbours then it belongs to them ? I used to think it was the right , but we apparently own all three of ours !!

Hi BR. You can still go lower on your DMP paymnet. I suppose there is no real hard and fast rule due to it being an informal arrangement. My DMP is only £120 a month, albeit my overall debt is less. The term of my DMP though is 17 years minimum:eek:

A little good news to maybe cheer you up this morning is that Mr BR should have around an extra £5 to £10 a month in his pay from April due to the tax allowance going up. Not a lot I know but it is a glimmer of light amongst all the bad news that seems to be around at the moment.

  • How big is the fence? Is it definitely yours? I'd double check...
And if it is yours is there someone who could fix it for you?
I live on a very windy hill and a couple of my fence posts had rotted last year, and a 25m long fence was in danger of going over (belonging to us). I get on well with my neighbours so spoke to them to say that I'd be getting someone to look at it, and they asked their son to do it. By the weekend the whole thing was double posted and propped, and they didn't ask a penny. But I had planned on asking my sister's boyfriend to do it and he reckoned he could fix it for £100.
    Hope you get it sorted.

Not sure that the fence is ours, Mr BR says it was already there when he moved in over 20 years ago. It's annoyingly not the sort of fence with fence posts on the back so I can't tell if it's ours or theirs from that and it's just down one side of the garden.

    Hi Rose

Just calling in for a quick catch up and to see how you all are.

Did you contact CCS and if so what did they suggest?

Hope you managed to get things sorted with the fence.

Take care and have a good Easter

Today's post: Letter from Currys about a warranty that they want us to take out (no thanks). A letter from Tesco with the grand total of £1.50 worth of vouchers (wooh, although 'every little helps') and a letter from Yorkshire Bank saying 'thanks for the amount of £** but 'this wasn't the amount we were expecting'. (tough). 'Please pay the remainder of the balance etc etc'. They've advised that, if we're struggling, we might like to get hold of a debt help charity. Shows that they've ignored all correspondence from us and CCCS so far then, but still accepted the money! So, not only are they going to get *another* we're with CCCS please talk to them type letter, they're also getting a letter apologising that in Feb they're only getting a token payment of £1! They're going to love that aren't they?! *sigh*

Had a very odd dream last night. Dreamed that I was in an old building, sort of cross between an old hotel and an old school/uni, all oak staircases and stuff but no-where I'd been before. The snag was that this old building was falling apart, literally, buts breaking off and finding yourself stuck on a staircase which had pulled away from the landing and people had to come and help you so you didn't fall. Or you'd open a door and discover nothing on the other side...later I was in a coach being should the now ruined building. The coach stopped and I had to go back in to fetch some stuff...parts of the building was fine, you could use a lift, but other bits were dangerous and you'd find yourself on very shaky ground (literally). It was very real though, I was both surprised but relieved to wake up and find myself safe in bed.
I wonder what all that means then.

I've just started reading your diary (and subscribed). We're on a DMP too.

Dreams about houses are usually about your inner world. It sounds like yours is a bit unsafe and insecure at the moment. I think it is just mirroring your feelings. The coach is good. It shows that you have the means to move forward and having to go back in and get stuff shows that you are strong and capable. You've got a good strong inner self. Lean on it sometimes. - Sorry I didn't mean to get all esoteric on you, but I wanted you to know how strong it shows you to be.

If anything you need to be a little firmer with your OH. You're doing all the work and he's 'getting away' with it. Tell him that you need - either the money to keep this ball rolling or him to take over the worrying. Hopefully he'll be smart :A and give you the money.

Right I'm going back to reading now - where was I? - post 18, I think. I may be back :rotfl:.

Well, great new re: the weigh in - lost 5lbs!! :T That's all the weight I'd put on over the past couple of weeks Will be updating my siggy shortly.

I'm thinking of us going back to weekly shops and seeing if that works out better. Obviously we're still learning how to budget and things, and still trying to work out the best way to go about stuff, as before we'd go once a week to Asda and spend about £80 - £100 a week. I'm not sure we'd do that now. We do out main big shop at Aldi but then have to go to Asda for the bits we can't get.

Things seem, so far, to be better today between Mr BR & myself so here's hoping a corner has been turned.

Well done on the weight loss. We have £50 per week for groceries, rabbit food (we have 3) and diesel (we also have £40 a month for diesel).

My hubby insists on shopping at Sainsbury's. He doesn't like anyone else's food - or so he says. I do go to Lidl every couple of weeks for things like prunes and some veg. He tells me that I'm the person that spends money - he doesn't spend any. No because he tells me what is needed and I order it off the internet after searching to see where I can get if from most cheaply.

He used to use lots of long words with me(he went to a minor public school and has a couple of degrees, whereas when we met I had 1 GCE O level and a couple of CSEs) but whenever he used one I wasn't sure of I asked him what it meant - which totally ruined his arguments :rotfl:. He's not all bad, with his encouragement I've now got a degree with the Open University. I'm now disabled and he is my carer so we live on Income Support, DLA and carer allowance. One of the best things that has happened in a long time, for us, is that he turned 60 in January last year and as of November our Income support went up because of it. This meant that we have doubled our DMP.

He still thinks we can go out for the day (he's mad about old churches) drive around, visit churches, perhaps even stay overnight - and I'll somehow fit it into our budget. They are all the same.

If you are only working 'as needed' you should be able to sign on and just tell them of the days you work. They don't like it because it causes them extra work, but it's worth it as you can then go on training courses.

Keep up the good work. You are doing really, really well.

I was told by the chemist that if I've had a cough for more than the time it takes to have 3 bottles of cough medicine then you need to see the doctor as it could be turning into an infection.

PS Does your mum use a computer. If she does you could - when you can afford it - buy her - and yourself - a web cam, then you could Skype her for nothing.

    Ailz.
