I expect they try to get more out of you in the hope there's more to be had - but if you need it to live on, they can't have it. Full stop.

    Well exactly.
Our electricity and gas bills are going up as well, electric by £5 (and not the £11 they wanted to put it up by) and gas by £10 so that an extra £15 we have to find, plus the water starts coming out in May (we've changed it a monthly DD but it doesn't start until then) and that's £45 now, so we'll be down by £60 a month in May - bye bye being in the black at the end of the month then!

  • It's always the way...
I'm not sure what on Earth these companies think that they are doing trying to suck us dry when nobody is getting a pay rise.
BR if the payments need to go down again then that's what will have to happen. It's taken 2 years for me to be in the position to up my payments to them... and it was looking like it was going down again. Unfortunately the current situation means that you may have to pay less again. It may change soon, who knows? At least you are offering payments, which is more than some do.

I guess but we can't lower our payments really, we're on a 14 year DMP currently as it is!
We'll just have to transfer the money over from 'sundries' and hope that we can absorb it. I've been enjoying the idea of having some money left at the end of the month to put aside but it's not looking like it's going to happen after all.
Not sure if we should tell CCCS about the increases or not though, regardless of whether their payment changes.

  • Hi Blushing Rose.
Hope you don't mind me popping by for some advice.
Just spoken to payplan about the dmp.
    He is very negative.
He is saying Bank of Scotland cards are unlikely to freeze interest.
    Barclaycard 8600.00
    Halifax 10645.00
    Egg 6255.00
They are a big part of my debts.
So basically i want to know have you managed to get yours frozen.if you have any of those

Felt quite upbeat before, after speaking to him feel down.
I felt like he is trying to push me into iva .bankrupt.
Then thinking dmp they do free ,but they get paid for selling the other ones to me.
If your friend pinoit grigio{spelling not right]could also please advise i wil feel calmer.

    How are you feeling today?

Have you spoken to CCCS as well? They are both charities, so should give you the same advice without making money from you... it wouldn't hurt to get a second opinion.
I found that only 2 of my 7 creditors are still charging interest, one at reduced rate, one not.
On a dmp you can ask but you can't guarantee that interest will be frozen. Most creditors are quite supportive though.
May be worth you posting on the DMP mutual support thread and getting some advice there.

I agree with Wanna_be, you're going to be better off posting in this thread. https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3723081

I would ring CCCS and have a chat with them, but no-one can make your creditors stop interest that's their choice.

    ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Ok, stop the world now, I'd like to get off.

Not only are we going to 'lose' £65 from May to various uilities who have decided to up their bills, but now the broadband has to go up by £5 a month as well. We cannot switch supplier as there is no BT where we are and no cable.

  • Well you'll need to review again with cccs. Remember, they cannot take what you don't have... I know that it's not what you want but if that's what you can afford then so be it.
How's your job hunting going? Anything you could maybe do and sell on ebay? Arts and crafts etc? I had my wedding invites made by someone who can do a job that I can't, and I just ordered my wedding cake through an independent today as well (which reminds me, I should go and update my own diary).
Just think how much stronger you'll be once you've gone through this and out of the other side.

I don;t think we *can* review again, we're only giving £250(ish) to them now and it'll be 14 years until we can pay it off. I don't think, as it started in Jan that we've had a constant payment yet to the CCCS.

  • But they are there to help you BR. Ring them up - explain the situation - see what they suggest. The idea is that dmp should be ok for you to live on. It can't be a constant struggle for the next 14 years for you.
