Some of the posts don't come acorss that way to me at all I'm afaraid. Hollie, for example, says the BM's would basically have to wear what she chose, regardless of what they thought of the dress. I have read other posts (In other threads too) about people saying their BM's are being a nightmare because they wont wear what they have been told to. Whilst I completely understand we all have an image of how we want our own day to be I don't see how having an unhappy BM fits into this.

It is just my opinion though and the world would be a boring place if everyone agreed.

So it's a dictatorship rather than a fun event? Lovely.
Science adjusts its views based on what's observed.
Faith is the denial of observation, so that belief can be preserved.

Only sign of a dictatorship is people editing what has been said to create propaganda to meet their own needs. If you like the ministry of truth can edit past events if you want some help.

Probably best not to take information out of context as you seem to have missed half a sentence in your quote...

Obviously being asked to wear a certain style of dress is part of being a bridesmaid. People dont joke about BMs having to wear awful dresses for nothing, but I think more brides are thinking more about the BMs comfort as well as the overall look.

Like Hollie says, you can stipulate whether you would like them in a long or short dress, or colours that go with your overall scheme - yes its my wedding and no I dont want pictures of my BM in a dress so short her backside's hanging out.
  • IMO there's a big difference between a size eight clothes horse being asked to wear a dress that might not be their particular style and someone who's size 20, and carrying baby weight that they're self conscious of, being asked to wear something that makes her look like a sack of potatoes. It's worth considering that an uncomfortable-looking bridesmaid will be much more of a distraction from the bride than one who's just gliding along perfectly happily in the background.

I also think that it's good that the OP's BM is being constructive - it's all very well to say that you want final say on style, but at least the lady in question is trying to give ideas on what they would be happier with rather than just moaning about the dress the OP has chosen. There's nothing worse than coming up with idea after idea just to have someone shoot them down without any feedback on what might appeal to them more.
