  • Urgh, i wish i could wear mineral foundation...i've bought 2...Prestige and BE and they are terrible. Both itched my face like mad and made my face look like a disco ball. The coverage seems to looks rubbish on me...doesnt cover a thing. I have a few scars from when i had acne a few years ago and i want them covering. Plus i find the coverage always looks a bit cakey? Maybe it's the brand i'm using.

It's rubbish, as having sensitive, acne prone skin, ive heard this is the best thing.

  • I don't know anything about Prestige, but I do know that BE contains bismuth oxychloride (which is both the thing that makes it shiny, and the thing that a large number of people have a itchy reaction to).

Elemental Beauty products are bismuth free ;)

  • Thanks...do you know of any that are free of bismuth and provide decent full coverage because of my bad skin? I don't want to give up on mineral make-up y'see, just want to find a decent one without having to spend a bomb on ones i dont like!

  • I've got rotten skin and EB is great, coverage wise.

I do still find with it that I get a temporary itching the first time my face sweats after I've applied it. But it does stay on, it stops itching, and it looks fabulous.

Have you read the other (long) mineral makeup thread?

Go for the EB healing foundation - if you apply it too heavily, it will look caked. Less is more.

They really are all too dark though I'm afaid and I have nothing to mix them with to make them lighter but they are too close in colour to be effective as a blusher - just looks dingy.

Tan? :rotfl: I go a very fetching shade of lobster in the sun!

I asked Nicola which ones for a very fair skin with warm tones and she said honey, beige, barley or sunshine. All but barley are much much too dark ( especially honey and sunshine). I might ask her to send me a sample of Nude to see if that is any better- I wonder why she didn't suggest that one?.

It's either that or find a supplier of Geisha make up which I can darken a bit.....

I think someone suggested rose or english rose from EB? Telephone Nicola - and explain your situation.

When you apply it, do not put too much on the brush, work outwards to inwards. I generally do that unles I'm having a red nose day and then I tend to have a 'fluff' over the nose first in a lighter shade - and then apply all over about 5-10 mins later.

English rose will be too pink but a sample of Nude is already on its way:D

I hope that it is the right shade - you can always 'bung' in some of the others for a different look. I stuck to one shade only until I got the hang of it and now I am really slap dash! And it doesn't seem to matter either!

Oh wow, how long have I been away from these forums?! It seems like forever. I've been so bad on keeping up with things.... work has been so busy, but thats not an excuse. :(

I use the lighter EB Shades. I've recently bought a full size pot of Nude, which is a perfect base colour for my skin. I still have a fair amount of the 5 samples that I'd originally bought from there... which is great because if I feel like a slightly different look I can mix the samples in with the nude and it'll create a different effect.

I have Sunshine which is quite a light but adds a slightly more tanned effect to my skin... (Which is a miracle considering A. I don't tan naturally anyway and B. Sunshine looks like it's getting into the mid range of skin tones rather than for fairer skin, but it's actually lighter than it looks.)

I also have barley, which works well for adding a slightly more golden glow... It's a yellowey toned one.
I have english rose but don't use that often as my skin is quite pinkish toned anyway... and very very spot prone, so adding extra pink to my skin isn't a good idea in general.

I've recently bought an Ultimate brushes buffer brush that was recommended on the Sheer cover thread.
Its soooo soft, but doesn't work quite as well for coverage as my EB Kabuki. Perhaps because the Bristles aren't as strong or as tightly packed.
It's good for doing doing light dustings over the top so will probably be ideal for using with the finishing powder once I start using that. (Thats going to be my next experiment to see if it helps control shine a little better)

Nicola kindly sent me a small sample of their colour correcting concealer with my last order... I've been trying it and must admit I've not seen a major difference from before I started using it.
It doesn't cover the spots as well as I'd hoped but does work ok on patches of redness like where I've had clusters of spots that are healing. Tones down and helps the foundation to blend more.

I'm still playing with Moisturisers, and also with Primer... I bought a sample of Smashbox Photofinish light primer which makes my skin feel lovely and smooth at first application but I have yet to see the benefits of it on my skin as the day progresses.

Anyway, sorry that just ended up as a big long update on my skin rather than just a quick hello.
Hope people are doing ok :)
    Talk soon.
    A x
