Mineral makeup - any good?

Thanks to everyone.
I have ordered a selection of samples and I'm now haunting the letter box in anticipation. I also decided to finally sort out the make up collection and have binned a whole lot of ancient stuff that should have been binned a long time ago:rotfl:
On the money saving side I discovered that the £5 Boots voucher they are handing out for redemption against No7 and Ruby and Millie colour cosmetics also work on the brushes so I managed to use 3 of them to get 3 new brushes for £1 each0 -

I discovered this fact too. I haven't bought many brushes from there yet (I plumped for a new nail varnish last time I was there) but everytime I spend a voucher, I end up buying it alongside something else and still manage to spend over the right amount to get another voucher in return.... they're never-ending!! LOL!
I ordered a full sized pot of healing foundation in Nude from Elemental Beauty yesterday, along with a new eyeshadow brush. They have a deal on at the moment where you get a full sized pot of eyeshadow when you buy a full sized foundation!!Bargain!! :j (I've left it up to Nicola to choose me an eyeshadow shade, but you can request a certain one if you have a preference.... I just like surprises, hehe!)

I've been using mineral makeup from Elemental Beauty for a couple of days now - I got a selection of samples to try to find the right one for me.
I love the application and everything but.......:o how do you get it to stay put? I have found that it doesn't seem to last long on my nose - I have a few sinus probs (sorry) and blow my nose about once an hour - the makeup has come off really easily and is much less "durable" than my usual foundation.
I have made sure that my face is matt - no excess moisturiser left and have used a primer as well.
Also, I still get shiny in the T zone after a few hours but see that others find it is really hard wearing so it can only be user error!
I'd love to hear your suggestions.
Thanks

Mine stays put all day until I take it off - unless I blow my nose... but then other foundation would've come then too.
Try keeping a 'loaded' brush in your bag for a touch up when you need one.
I only use elemental beauty - mainly for the healing side of it, the colours and it doesn't aggravate my skin and Nicola appears to be psychic to my needs! It is very pure unlike most high street brands which contain talc and 'stuff'!! If you need advice re colour or anything else - email Nicola, she is a gem and seems to have all the answers!Genie

I love mineral make up! I use Bare Minerals but plan to try Elemental Beauty soon based on all the ace reviews here on MSE. I've made a few enquiries and agree 100% with JeannieBlue and others that Nicola is incredibly helpful.:T
It stays put better than liquid make up for me but it does come off a bit if I blow my nose.Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far!
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

For the oily t - zone, try either mineral veil or any of the finishing powders before and after foundation application
Are you sure its coming off? Sounds like a daft question i know but I used to have to "blot" a lot and the tissues would be covered yet my face was still pretty much made up come the end of the day. Dont forget minerals give an "invisible" coverage - you dont look like you are wearing make up till you take it off0 -
Well I'm a convert now too. I am still struggling though to find a good match.
Anyone know who does the lightest shades? - Elemental Beauty's Barley is almost right but still a little dark.
And what on earth do you do with all the rejected samples? Seems a shame to just bin them.0 -
Barley is far from the lightest EB shade - I use English Rose, which has a pink tone, and there's also Nude which has a yellow tone.

Oh don't bin them! For example I mix alot of mine. I have cinnamon for summer when tanned (if lucky!), but I then mix it with a lighter shade when tan (if have one fades) and so on... Or the darker ones can be a bit of blusher and the lighter ones I may dab on with my finger onto spots etc. You'll get the knack! Chat Nicola up and tell her what is good and whats bad etc - she is brill at working it out.
I have problematic skin and tend to choose the healing foundation as it contains allantoin. I've never looked back.Genie

They really are all too dark though I'm afaid and I have nothing to mix them with to make them lighter but they are too close in colour to be effective as a blusher - just looks dingy.
Tan? :rotfl: I go a very fetching shade of lobster in the sun!
I asked Nicola which ones for a very fair skin with warm tones and she said honey, beige, barley or sunshine. All but barley are much much too dark ( especially honey and sunshine). I might ask her to send me a sample of Nude to see if that is any better- I wonder why she didn't suggest that one?.
It's either that or find a supplier of Geisha make up which I can darken a bit.....0
