Why oh why do I do it? This forum is a really bad influence!
Went looking on ebay for a fillable brush and have spent an hour wandering round. I've found several new places doing minerals including one that has 50 (yes 50) eyeshadows for about £14 with free postage. I do not need this much makeup - actually I don't need ANY makeup but I'm really struggling not to buy. In case anyone else wants to be unbearably tempted its item number 250403113130.

How do you find out your "undertones"? I've tried 3 everyday minerals, 2 jane iredale and estee lauder, and i find them all too orangey, what am i doing wrong? -I've a, now i believe, rather pale, yet olive -latin- skin, any suggestions?
    Cheers!

I like the look of this make-up. I have recently been diagnosed with Rosacea and currently use BE in medium.

Anyone any idea what shade I should use in this range, as I am just so confused. I have very dark brown hair but fair skin and hazel eyes, so I just conclict all over the place.

Well following on from success with OCM - I am nice and pimple free and thought I was ready to start using my mineral makeup testers (elemental beauty).
But its not working out :(. Although my pores are clear - they are noticeably there... Previous tips suggest most misapplication is actually adding too much makeup - so I've tried reducing the amount but still happens.
I know its not in my mind because I did half my face in mineral make up and the other with my old one, and unfortunately the half with the old stuff looked much better... Which is a real pain in the *** because its really expensive and I liked the idea of the healthier/less chemical/sunscreen/airbrushed glow benefits of minerals.

Before I give up completely are there any other pointers? (I have got a kabuki and I am buffing in circular motions...)

    thanks
Veronarona was my 'teacher' so to speak when I first started to use MM. I found I could only get on with Elemental Beauty, in particular, their healing foundation.

I don't f*rt ar5e around with the swirling circular motion........ I sort of swish it on. You have to work out what way to apply it that suits you.
The longer I took, the worse it was and I over applied it and it caked. I also second Veronarona's advice in that you put a little on your brush and apply it without looking!

If it helps - I could not for love nor money get on with the kabuki brush. By accident, sort of, I bought a lovely pink brush from EB, the head of it is smaller than a kabuki and the handle is longer, and I find it suits me. If you over buff - you can make your face sore, well I did, and found a sweeping motion better.

Also found that sometimes my red bits (potential spot or vein) weren't being covered, so just stuck my finger in the pot (gently) and patted it on the reddest bits! And then sort of swish over it.

Suki once said that she starts from the sides and works inwards, that kinda works for me, once I've and a 'pat' over the central bits that are the worst!

Please be patient, i really thought it was not for me and it was cr*p, but after practising and getting worse, and then being slap hazard, I find it really great and it sooooooooooooo doesn't aggravate my sensitive skin!!

Good luck - keep us informed how you go. Don't rush - well do when applying, think speed and not have a lot of time helped me to swish it on ok!!

If you tan easily then you prolly need medium or medium beige - I can use both. The medium beige suits me more in the summer with a bit of a tan going.

    On QVC they say :

Light is for Madonna's skin type
    Courtney Cox = medium
    Jennifer Annistan = medium beige
    Cheryl Cole-=medium Tan
    Aisan skins - Tan
    Naomi Campbell = medium Dark
    Oprah Winfrey = Golden Dark

    Hope that helps

Not sure on those minerals but from what you are saying it looks like you are needing to look at Olive- fair through to olive medium in the everyday mineral range, what colours are you using atm?

That is what I currently use Medium from Bare Essentials, I just wondered what colour I should order from the Everyday minerals range?

Sorry if I did not make myself clear.

I do not tan easily, just go red lol.

I think you need to be looking at the cool or beige section. I would think that seeing as you go red you need pinky undertones

You get to sample 3 base colours, so hopefully you'll hit the right colour with one of them :)

I agree your colouring is awkard - with hazel eyes you'd think you should go for the warm spectrum, but a non-tanning skin means cool  You can try blending if no one colour quite fits the bill.

Bare Escentuals' Medium is on the warm side, whilst Medium Beige is cool. I can wear either on my summer skin (except I don't wear BE any more at all because of the itching), and several others besides.

What makes colour decisions even more difficult is the fact that they don't show up well or accurately in photos on our PC screens

Thanks, Suki. The EM colours I've tried are:
    Medium beige summer
    Sandy medium
    Sandy olive

    Jane Iredale:
    Latte
    Golden Glow

    Estee Lauder:
    No. 3

Doesn't the QVC site advice what colour to use if your skin type is like that of Salma Hayek/Penelope Cruz? ;)
