Mineral makeup - any good?

Suki, do you use the Elemental Beauty concealer? If so which one? I tried to cover my vein this morning with their 'Luminous' shade of foundation but it looks wrong. I've got some veins on the side of my nose which the foundation deals with, but I've got this really noticeable one right in the middle of my chin. Typical eh? It can't sit on my face discreetly, it has to be somewhere dead obvious!0

I'll be walking past both Debenhams and Selfridges on Thursday evening so might have a peek anyway.
Debenhams I have no idea about. But they do have proper counters at House of Fraser in Bluewater, Kent (not sure about Oxford St).
The BE counter in Selfridges was where I got mine done. They don't do free samples but they made me over and the lovely girl chatted to me about it for a while (I'd already done my reading on here before going in), and there was no pressure to buy. I just said I wanted to see how it went on and lasted and I'd make a decision the next day.
So the next day I went to Bluewater, got made over again, liked it and ended up buying the starter kit and some bisque, and I've never looked back since! If you have the time I'd definetely recommend getting them to make you up in it, it really shows you a. what colours to use, and b. how much minerals need to be in the lid for effective coverage. I can't compliment the girl in Selfridges enough. I believe my comment when I came out was, "it's like my skin only better"....I like my coffee black, just like my metal!

Thanks! That's exactly what I needed to know :A I might stop off there on Thursday - I'm not going to be tempted to buy there and then, and I'm sure the assistant would understand if I said (truthfully) that although I'm already using MMU, I want to see how BE feels after a few hours as I'm wary of my skin reacting to the bismuth oxychloride.
On another matter: who is it (suki?) that's using the Avon moisturiser? I've been looking on their website and I'm not sure I've got the right one - most of the "botanicals" products aren't called "Liiv botanicals" any more. Is it the botanicals day cream, SPF 20? Normally £7, currently on special offer at £4.50?Operation Get in Shape

I've just been sorting through all my cosmetics, in need of some different products because my skin is doing my head in.
First, can one of you please explain to me about OCM? All I know is that it involves castor oil and olive oil - that's what I've seen on this thread. I need to sort out the blackheads and oil slick on my nose. It's not fair to be still having these problems along with wrinkles and grey hair!!
Where do I buy castor oil? Do I need special type? Do I put the oil on my face when it's wet or dry? And what do I do, just rub it in? How does it come off? Presumably water alone won't shift it?
Second, I'm giving my lovely Elemental Beauty samples another try. I found a gorgeous shade that is perfect on me but I was struggling with coverage.
I've picked up some tips on the thread like don't look when you're applying it, or try two very light layers then leave ti alone etc..will try those. But I do have a little red vein on my chin that needs a bit of coverage - any advice for that? And what do you EB ladies do about dark circles under your eyes? Do you just use your normal foundation there?
Sorry for all the questions would really appreciate some help.
I have a few red veins - and the odd red sort of spot thingy. Thanks to Veronarona - I rarely look when applying and just sort of brush it on all haphazard, which suits as I am in a hurry in the mornings.......Re the redder bits - I tend to just pat my finger in a little bit of the powder and pat in on the red bit that is offending me.
I find the less I try - the better it is. Elemental Beauty - for me, is the best, which reminds me, I need to order some more!!Genie

Thats the one - lovely and light for my very reactive skin. I use the day cream in that range but of a night I use either a rose moisturiser I have here for yonks or my absolute fave - Decleor Ylang Ylang (got a cheapo from Tk maxx recently)
Re Concealers, Im using a mixture of many. I have the bisque and summer bisque from Bare Escentuals, I have the green corrector from Elemental Beauty and I have about a zillion sample packs of concealers from EB, Lilly lolo and an american comapny mieow ( or similier)
Now I have a wee red dot thing side of my nose which is pretty bright, I dot it with whatever I have to hand and usually finish of dotting on a bit more foundation over it. It never looks fully covered when staring in a 5x magnifying mirror but I never see it when catching sight of myself during the day in normal mirrors.0 -
Thanks suki :T I can't help but notice that while on special offer it's currently nearly a quarter the price of my Liz Earle Skin Repair Light

After trying loads of different minerals and none of them ever being quite right, I wanted to give my Elemental Beauty samples another try. After reading this thread, this morning I just slapped on two very light layers and left them to 'take' for about 15 minutes while I got dressed and got my breakfast started. After I'd done it, I looked in the mirror and it was like nothing was on my face...but then when I looked again 15 minutes later the minerals had taken and I looked better. I needed a bit more, so I applied one more haphazard layer. Looking good now!!
Will try a few techniques to deal with my red vein on my chin and probably order a couple of the EB concealers to try too.0 -

I think that part of the problem is that we are very aware of our flaws...the things we focus on, there's a very good chance that nobody else really notices them.
The red vein on my chin isn't like the ones on my nose, it looks just like somebody has walked up to me and stuck the tip of a red pen onto my chin. It's tiny really but I tend to notice it immediately whenever I look in a mirror.
I hate it and am going to see if I can get it removed.0 -
Advice please..
After reading this thread I got some mineral makeup from ebay - sobare I think it's called. I love the look - I think it's natural and fresh and I'm an old bird with both wrinkles and acne! However, I'm finding that my skin is really dry now, almost flaky, when previously I've been battling greasy skin all my life.
Is this a mineral makeup thing, or should I just try another make?0
