    Hello fellow mineral lovers!

Thank you so much for all the advice here.... I have finally found my perfect shade/consistency and my life has changed, haha :)
I have just posted a discount code I found for Lilylolo in the discounts and vouchers section (as don't think I can post it here directly?).... it is for 15% off full sized products when ordered between 9th and 16th April. Hope it is of use to someone!

    :)

MMU shouldnt be drying your skin and looking at the ingredients listed for that brand, theres nothing that stands out as drying

I think perhaps you need to look at your skin care? Use an exfoliater and a good moisturiser.

Have you looked at the OCM (oil cleansing method)? Working for loads of us spotty older lasses.

But I would say, avoid anything drying such as soap or any cleansers with alcohol in them and use a light but rich ( if that makes sense) moisturiser as part of your skin regime. I also use a heavier night cream ,well more like a oil/wax tbh - decleor ylang ylang is my preference, or I have vit E oil or even a lovely rose based moisturiser - all ingredients which are supposed to be calming as well

Edited to say, just dug a bit deeper on the Sobare and seen that the foundations appear to include kaolin clay. This is used as an oil slick mopper upper so this may be why you are getting dryness?

Thanks so much for such a comprehensive answer - I really appreciate you taking the time, Suki.

I do the same skin routine I've always done. In fact, maybe for too long and I should now acknowledge I have "mature skin". Right now I really feel I could do with a really oily face mask - that would be anathema to me before now. I like the sound of the rose oil moisturiser, do you have a brand name?

I'll also try out another brand name for the MMU - Bare Essentuals seems a favourite here?

For future reference (because I am ploughing thru a 200ml jar of Beate Johnen moisturiser from Ideal World and it's taking for ever) what rose cream is that Suki?

Thank goodness you found it, I got lost in there ;)

EDIT to say to Cazzie - I started out with Bare Escentuals but found that it prickled my face like made - I bought several new brushes before finding out that it was the bismuth in BE that was causing it. However, many people love BE.

Theres a thread here somewhere on rose moisturisers

    Take your pick :D

Bare Escentuals is a popular choice of mmu but once again theres bismuth in that which does make some of us sensitive souls itch and some people do find it a tad shiney.

Lillylolo is a very popular brand for the UK market - and Parisan has kindly posted a discount code. Their samples are very resonably priced as well so perhaps its worth odering a few see if it suits?

Elemental beauty is also a popular choice on this forum, esp the healing foundation as it contains allotonin (sp?) which is particulary soothing. Once again cheap generous samples.

If you have some olive oil in the house try massaging a tbsp or so into your face for 5 mins then wipe off using a hot flannel ( wrung out in hot water and laid over your oil covered face to steam it a bit before wiping. repeat till all oil is removed) really does leave your face feeling soft and supple and takes off all traces of make up. If you like it then have a look at the OCM

    Hi again :D

For newbies (like me) to mineral makeup who may be trying to decides which brands/samples/shades to go for, I made an attempt at a wee blog here :o

Only made 1 post so far showing my samples from Lily Lolo and I will make ones for Bare Escentuals, Elemental Beauty and e.l.f. when I get them :D Thought it might help people trying to order samples to see some shades abit better. Gonna wait on all my samples to start really trying them out though but wanted to share my pics. x

    This one :Dhttp://www.akamuti.co.uk/products/new/bestseller---replenishing-face-cream-60ml/

its like a lip balm its that rich - a little goes a long long way. I was recommended it last year from a poster to these boards (thankyou)

And yes I have to say the sobare site wasn't easy to navigate, thought I had found the ingredients and started my post here, then found yet ANOTHER link. However kaolin isnt the worse but I have it as a stand alone from lillylolo as a mopper upper, I found it to be very harsh indead so havent used it

Just wanted to update after I tried the 'haphazard' application method :rotfl:earlier today.
I used EB's Barley shade. It's not the right shade for me but I was just practising so it didn't matter too much. Plus I find with MMU that the shades are a lot more forgiving than with 'normal' foundations.
So I brushed on a couple of very thin layers at 8.30am, didn't even look in the mirror as I did it. Normally I spend about 5 minutes trying to get it to look right, so this was a big change for me. I waited about 10 minutes then had a look in the mirror. It looked good. I needed a bit more so I did another very light layer in the same way.
Anyway, it stayed looking really nice until about 3.30pm, which is very good going for me.
Happy with this new way of applying it, I think 'sunshine' is the perfect shade for me of the EB range, and now just need to learn how to conceal my flaws

Thats great, just looked and its looking good. will you do face pics? before and after to show what mmu looks like on?

You need a wee linky thingy in your siggy so people can find it easily

Mineral eyeshadows are lovely arent they? I have a freebie from ELF - a copper colour. I use it as eyeliner as its just a lovely metallic shade
