I came home on 11th July to find out I'd received a parking charge notice through the post from Excel Parking, Cavendish Retail Park, Keighley, West Yorkshire. It stated that on the 30th June my vehicle had breached the car park terms and conditions for parking for 18 minutes without purchasing a ticket and now owe them £40 to be paid within 14 days. It showed CCTV images of my vehicle entering and leaving the Car Park. I don't even have a recollection of parking there. What should I do now?
Hi carpcry100, I am in exactly the same situation at the same car park. I have written to Excel to appeal. Have you had any update on your ticket?

Why on earth did you appeal? If you read the posts on here you would realize that it's one big sham. Just ignore Excel from now on.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?
  • Unfortunately I appealed before I read the forum posts :(

It makes no difference. Even if you've inadvertently admitted to being the driver, it just means that they can harrass the driver instead of having to make do with harassing the registered keeper.

Continue to ignore everything you get from them. Eventually, they will run out of empty threats and stop throwing good money after bad.
The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life. :)
  • Hi all, need some more advice please, i parked at a shopping centre free car park today on what i thought was a parent and child parking space as there was a picture of a trolley on a plaque in front of the space, and on my return i found another parking charge for £70.00 to be reduced to £35.00 if paid in 14 days! After driving from the space i went back to look, and my mistake, i had parked in a disabled space! The ticket was from ukpc. Should i try to appeal this one, or just ignore it like the other one from excel?

Just ignore. It's as simple as that.

Hi, I recently drove into a local small shopping area car park in the Midlands as i was feeling faint and had excruciating stomach pains. I drove into a parking space, and went out of the car to find a toilet. My friend remained in the car for the 29 mins I was in the parking space. I have since received a parking charge notice for £60 from EXCEL PARKING to be paid in 14 days, and will go up to £100 if not paid within that time scale! Any advise from anyone please? Should I ignore, or write in explaining i was in pain and could not drive as Martin Lewis advises?? Please help as I am very worried about this but feel it is unjust as my car was not left at any time. Thank you.

I know I'm panicking and I have seen all the advice to ignore, which I will do but I haven't seen any posts by someone who had the charge notice themselves and has ignored. It would really put my mind at ease to hear from someone who actually had a charge notice and ignored, what happened with excel, have they stopped contacting you now and how long did it take for them to get the message if they did?

Hello to you. It may please you to know that I have a cabinet full of ignored invoices and a white container packed with window stickers none of which has yet been paid.

Many of us have been down that road that worries you. It is simple.

Scenario 1: you get an invoice through post, you bin it; or sticker on window, you remove it and stick it to the ground.

Scenario 2: reminder letters are sent to keeper - you ignore them.

Scenario 3: debt collector letters arrive - you ignore them.

Scenario 4: five months from your contravention, you have received a FINAL FINAL warning - you ignore it.

Scenario 5: it is 20 years later and you've heard nothing!
