Afternoon all.
Beautiful day here, just like Spring.
No Valentines here but my daughter is a florist and it's a very busy time for her. She didn't get in until 1 am and was back at work for 8.30.0 -

So I have fed him paracetamol and packed him off to bed. She wants him to come in as soon as he is well for blood tests. I said in that case I will have to wait for a day he's well and ring the surgery and tell them to get him in immediately
I ache all over now and wish I could go to bed

I had GF when I was 15 and about to take my GCSE's - I'd had a really rough time in the months leading up to it losing a close friend and my grandfather within days of each other, and when I got the virus it completely knocked me for 6. I suffered the effects for almost a year on and off, and still get symptoms when I'm tired, stressed and run down. However it took almost seven blood tests for them to figure out what it was that i had  the results kept coming back "unclear" or "trace of Glandular Fever" which apparently isn't enough to make a diagnosis on
The only way to get rid of it is rest... and keep him away from all the girlies he might be indulging!!
edited to add: Look after yourself Moggins, there's no way you can look after or be of any use to anyone, never mind a poorly man, if you're ill too.0 -
For those of you who are stay at home mums...
One afternoon a man came home from work to find total mayhem in his
house. His three children were outside, still in their pajamas, playing
in the mud, with empty food boxes and wrappers strewn all around the
front yard. The door of his wife's car was open, as was the front door
to the house and there was no sign of the dog.
Proceeding into the entry, he found an even bigger mess.
A lamp had been knocked over, and the throw rug was wadded against one
wall .. In the front room the TV was loudly blaring a cartoon channel,
and the family room was strewn with toys and various items of clothing.
In the kitchen, dishes filled the sink, breakfast food was spilled on
the counter, the fridge door was open wide, dog food was spilled on the
floor, a broken glass lay under the table, and a small pile of sand was
spread by the back door.
He quickly headed up the stairs, stepping over toys and more piles of
clothes, looking for his wife. He was worried she may be ill, or that
something serious had happened.
He was met with a small trickle of water as it made its way out the
bathroom door. As he peered inside he found wet towels, scummy soap and
more toys strewn over the floor. Miles of toilet paper lay in a heap and
toothpaste had been smeared over the mirror and walls.
As he rushed to the bedroom, he found his wife still curled up in the
bed in her pajamas, reading a novel. She looked up at him, smiled, and
asked how his day went. He looked at her bewildered and asked, "What
happened here today?"
She again smiled and answered, "You know every day when you come home
from work and you ask me what in the world did I do today?"
"Yes" was his incredulous reply.
She answered, "Well, today I didn't do it."Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. LOL, I'm going to be teasing him about this as he goes to an all boys school! I shall be asking him what goes on behind the scout hut now. It was so funny as the doctor rarely sees him and when we were leaving she was shocked at the fact that he now towers over me and is still only 13. I felt very silly babying this 6 ft gangly teenagerOrganised people are just too lazy to look for things

Afternoon all!
Happy birthday bargain babe!
I have been busy this morning! The kitchen sink is shining away and am waiting for the dishwasher to be delivered, hopefully we won't have too much more of a wait!
I'm cooking dinner tonight, steak, chips, corn on the cop and HM onion rings... yummy. Accompanied by melting middle choc puds, channel island cream and champagne. And yes he deserves it! We've not been able to manage much for Christmas and birthday but OH really spoilt me today! I try and say 'things are looking up' but knowing my luck we'll get another slap in the face, so I daren't!
*Finally* got my Dotty Ps order, a whole week later than when it should've been delivered, and it was open! I checked all of the contents and everything that was meant to be in it, was in it, but i guess the delivery girl just had to have a nose! I'm going to write a stern letter of complaint and tell them that Royal Mail would be much better (not that I'm biased or anything, I know there are a lot of idiots who work there, but there are others, like my OH who work hard and honestly) to use!!
I have pink eye though and was up at 7am so am not feeling too great, a bit all over the place, hehe.
Hope you all have a lovely day x

Squeaky,
Did I laugh at your stay at home mum post! I've been wiped out by flu for 6 days and the house will soon be at the state of your post. DH is being a star but still has to go to work to earn a crust. He is exhausted when he comes in and then has to cook for the kids and me and try to put the washing machine on etc.
He told me last night that he will never accuse me of having a life of leisure again - the penny has finally dropped that without me the wheel stops turning!0 -
Ah, love is in the air!!
Hubby was still here when I woke up (he usually is gone by about 5am but he's on Jury Service so he gets a lay in this week! Perfect because he usually never knows what time he'll be home, but this week it won't be any later than 6pm) so I got a cup of tea made for me before he left. We're still madly in love after nearly 9 years of marriage, but don't really do the commercial thing and we'd said we won't do cards this year. Off he goes to court and when I opened the cupboard to get a plate for my toast...There is a book from my favourite author and a box of my favourite toffees all wrapped up in pretty paper! Love him! I phoned him to say thank you, put the phone down, opened the cupboard for a t-bag and there's a card hiding in there with the most beautiful words. He's soooooo lovely.
Anyway, the day went on and there was a knock at the door at lunchtime. Flowers for me!! A dozen red roses. He'd signed the card 'Wentworth Miller'. That's the guy from Prison Break who is delicious!!! It made me laugh out loud, but I couldn't quite explain to the children (5 and 3) what was so funny about roses so they're a bit confused about the whole thing now!
'Mummy, it's not your birthday. Why did you get presents?' It's taken a while, but I think they've got it now.
He thinks Valentines day is only for girls, so he never wants me to get him anything, but I'm cooking his favourite dinner and desert and I'm sure I can think of some other little things to treat him....
Can't say I'm not a little peeved that he went and bought presents and told me he hadn't, but a guess it's only a white lie...I'll let him off this time.Live as if your were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever - Mahatma Gandhi0 -
Hi everyone!
Hugs to all those who need them [especially to TM at this difficult time] and Huge congrats Gingham Ribbon!
All fine and dandy here today. I've been quite productive already and have got some washing in and washed all the floors. Have just munched my way through a mince pie which OH made with some leftover pastry and half a jar of HM mincemeat from Chrimbo. I swear OH is a closet Oldstyler sometimes!
Valentines day has passed by with a whimper...neither of us have a romantic bone in our body but I did treat him to a card I bought from the charity shop [unopened!!] for 20p!!. We did also have bacon sarnies with the small person for a special breakkie and I used one of my cutters to make heart shaped toast. Our most recent episode of togetherness was at 11pm on Sat night after I'd got back from when the meet when the small person coughed so hard he was ill and we had to strip all his bedding;. Mmmm Lovely!!
Having survived the Cubs DIY last night which despite myself I enjoyed and have offered to help out at more often [more fool me!] tonight is going to be a lazybones evening with the TV and my cross stitch. As I sat on my ample rump last night I realised that OS way of thinking has even permeated my TV viewing...I sat and watch Ms Mckeith and watched with horror as a whole plate of uneaten food went into the bin [aargh the waste:eek: ] and then sat and thought wistfully of my own 1970s childhood with the candles and Monolpy sat round the dining table during the following programme. I'm sure I'm looking back through rose tinted specs and my parents would tell me otherwise!
Have a good day

I don't usually watch the news or pay much attention to it, though i had of course, vaguely heard about the death of a young toddler in Leeds, though had paid no heed to it. However OH mentioned something this morning and I have just been reading the story properly and realised that I was in that part of Leeds as it was happening. OH's grandad lives a few streets away and we had gone to visit him and to plant a memorial tree in memory of his late wife in the woods close to where it happened. It's such a terrible tragedy and now seems so close to home. You never think it could happen in a place you go to so regularly...
Still feel rubbish - really need to get well for the Ice Hockey tonight... And also nipped to Morrisons yesterday with a list for everything we'll need in the next two weeks to tide us over until payday, and I stuck to it strictly and bought Value products wherever possible. It came to £21.99 (using a £5 petrol voucher) and I was pleased with that until I came to update the food budget and realised that I have gone over this monthNot by a lot (only £5 or so) but I don't know why as we usually come in £10 under... I've analysed all the shopping receipts from this month and we've bought nothing extravagant or unusual... I didn't even go over at Xmas so why we have this month I don't know
I feel so rotten and down now.
It is horrible when so close to homeAn average day in my life:hello: :mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T:rotfl: :rotfl:

Hi all!
Happy Valentines day!
Poor cold has triggered poorly asthma, so I've just surfaced. (Reckon I'll be for it when the boss gets back cos it means his precious work wont go out when he wanted it too - but tough luck, some things [health] are more important!)
Hope everyone with this awful cold feels better soon, and gets out in that lovely Spring sunshine.
And that you all get lovely gifts from your OHs.
Waiting for my new slowcooker to arrive, Amozon SuperSaver delivery seems to take weeksMR 3.5l - I'm so excited, can't wait to try some of the recipes in the index
Hugs to all
