Morning again!
just had my insurance quote for DS1 a 17 year old learner driver, to go on my insurance is £1138.43:eek: on his own insurance would be over 2 grand!
Have just spoke to him and he's willing to stump up for it(he's not on a high wage as a trainee but he's desparate to drive) he has his first lesson on Saturday courtesy of his Nan who bought him some for Christmas.
Will have a look on the insurance board to see how I can improve it if possible.
Off to make some of the best chocolate biscuits ever from thos site! if they're as nice as the best mince pie pastry ever I wont be disappointed!;)
catch you later xxDo what you love :happyhear0 -
Moggins,
I'm the culprit because I started the thread. I really don't think that some people appreciate the difficulties faced by SAHMs. They see it as a cop-out and a cushy life - if only. I welll remember the scrimping and saving and the boredom of some days with only pre-schoolers to talk to. But there were also many more days when I loved being at home with my children and would do it all again in a second.0 -
happy birthdat bargain babe
we celebrated valentine last night-as OH at work tonight.
I had champagne delivered to OH and (we were supposed to be getting married this weekend but lost our jobs last year so cancelled!) he wouldn't leave me alone when I got home:o :rotfl: :j I'm not sure if it was the (un-opened) champagne or the fact I had make-up on for once?!
I had a lovely night though!:o
kids are having there photos taken today too! hope oh puts some decent clothes on them and washed their faces!
I hope everyone is well todat and has a lovely day.
hugs to those that need them!
I have been trying to post this for an hour now, but boss keeps creeping up behind me!  -I'm sure he has an invisibility cloak or something cos' he just "appears"!:rotfl:official dfw nerd club member no 214

https://www.cis.co.uk (co-operative insurance) used to be good for young ones, though the policy they had has been changed  waiting for a new quote for next year.

Hello everyone! :hello:
Happy Birthday bargain babe _party_ and hugs to everyone else too :grouphug:
Well I got a lovely valentines treat, I didn't get woken up with 'make me a cup of tea' and got a little bit of a lie in seeing as its my day off. :happyhear We're just having a night in because I told my OH that I preferred his cooking to any restaurants and he said that's the nicest thing I've ever said, I'm sure I've been nicer than that before! Hehe!
Does anyone have any tips for being disciplined enough to do work at home on my days off as I'm applying to do a masters in April and I need to get a portfolio together and I just can't seem to do any work? I’m finding it really hard.0 -
Morning all
Happy Singles Day to everyone who's alone like me!!:rotfl:
Back at work, where I'm the only single person, so have to listen to everyone else talk about how in love they are, with all their cards and flowers arriving at work. I don't feel depressed at all!
Brought some HM banana bread to work for lunch, and I think I have an orange in my bag too
Hope everyone's okComping, Clicking & Saving for Change0 -
Morning - just about - everyone
treated myself to a valentine's day lie in as I'm not w**king today
exdh stayed over and was given instructions to take loaves from the fridge and bake them in time for dd's lunch - well he forgot so has had to pay for a school dinner.
I did get a card which has left me feeling a bit strange - it is from exdh and is quite slushy on the outside and inside just says thanks so i'm not sure what to make of it. I can bear him in small doses but hope he's not confusing my good nature with something more substantial as i'm deliriously happily singleThe first time he got me a valentines anything was our first year together about 13 years ago. It was a teddy holding a heart whilst reposing in a basket - i took one look at it and said "you don't know me at all do you?" ungrateful little madam aint i. Every year after that i got yummy sausages from a proper organic butcher which were much appreciated.
Loved the mouse story moggins - we sometimes get mice and they freak me out so i invite some cats from over the road in which seems to do the trick. these poor cats have owners but they're not very nice people so the cats are pretty self sufficient and are quite used to catching their own food. I feed them if they come and sometimes they spend the night if its cold and wet. Sometimes they sit in the upstairs window and the scary people come round to have a go but i just say they must have snuck in - why do people have animals if they don't want to look after them?
happy sparkly birthday bargainbabe - i am imagining you swanning around doing your housework all bedecked in jewellry :rotfl:I'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 20080 -
happy Valentine's Day to everyone, happy birthday Bargain Babe, hugs to all in need.
Like Penny-Pincher I'm choked with the cold, and going away (this Saturday to a cottage in Berwickshire for a week) - so hope the lurgy begins to wane before then.
Moggins, I loved the mouse story, it brought back similarly hilarious (in retrospect!!) memories of mice brought in by various cats over the years - in each case had to shift furniture, empty bookcases etc - exhausting and the cat just sat there watching the (human) antics!
My current cat, a lovely old boy, has arthritis and is incapable of catching anything, mercifully.
It's a beautiful blue sky day here, mild and there was no frost. Soup for lunch for me, and a quiet afternoon lying in state on the sofa!
GQIf you have a talent, use it in every which way possible. Don't hoard it. Don't dole it out like a miser. Spend it lavishly like a millionaire intent on going broke.

Snoozer, it was not your fault, you had a valid point to make. I just get very very annoyed when people assume as a SAHM I sit on my bottom all day and do nothing bar watch daytime TV and eat chocolate! I actually tell DH that one of these days I am going to go back to work to get a rest!Organised people are just too lazy to look for things
