  • Good morning everyone,

Well I got a lovely card form DS (3) that he made at preschool - it was very sweet. OH and I have decided that we will do valentines day tomorrow as Thursday is our quiet night in. We will be getting some nice steak and a bottle as a treat and probably a DVD. Whilst I agree that it is all too commercialised I love flowers so have told OH that if he gets the urge to buy me any tomorrow that are reduced or back to normal price I won't mind:rotfl:
I have been bought flowers by OH before, not on Valentines day, but never been sent a delivery of flowers by him - they really are sooooo expensive. I live in hope that one day I will get some, and in fact have given OH instructions that if he ever becomes rich he has to send me the largest bunch he can find to my work with the word 'resign' written in the card:rotfl:

    Morning all.
    Happy Birthday Bargain Babe
    Congrats GR
(((hugs))) to all who are down or poorly

    Happy Valentines day! :happyhear

We don't celebrate Valentine's as such, as OH buys me flowers through the year (ahh, bless him), and I can't have chocolates and stuff as I have to be very careful with my weight, but this year I decided to cook a special meal. Actually it's an excuse for me to try some new recipes :rotfl:
I have decided to set the table nicely with candles and all (never done that before), and have a 3 course meal waiting for OH - he has no idea ;)

Apart from that - WM is on, BM has finished, supermarket thingy on TV is taping (for later), now need to clean the kitchen, cook most of the meal (what can be done ahead). Strip the bed and wash the linen.
Clean out spare room... been putting that one off for AGES :o
    Freecycle time methinks...

Anyway, have a great day y'all - love and kisses all round :kisses:
Save the earth, it's the only planet with chocolate! :)
  • Morning :hello:

    Happy birthday bargain babe!

Congratulations to Gingham Ribbon and family!

    Edit: (((((hugs))))) ageandjo

Well I'd sort of forgotten about Valentine's Day - it's a bit pointless when you're (happily) single! I was paying for a Danish pastry in mini-Sainsburys this morning and the checkout lady wished me a happy Valentine's Day - when I said I was single and I'd forgotten it was today, she gave me the whole "Awwwww, never mind, you'll find somebody!" speech! Could have thumped her! :rotfl:

The weather is revolting today and I am enjoying the fact that it's half term in my borough, as it means I can get the bus to work in bad weather! The buses on my route go through several large council estates and past lots of schools, and TBH one of the reasons I usually walk to work (besides the exercise) is that the buses between 8am and 9am are often packed to the point that you can't get on them at all. The borough my boss lives in, on the other hand, has half term NEXT week which means he's taking a week's leave :D

TM and Nelski, drink lots of water and take a paracetemol :D (Wish I'd been there too...)

Right, better get on with what I'm paid for... see you later

    Rzl xx

    Morning all

We don't do anything special for Valentines Day but we do swap cards.

This morning I have taken OH to work and am now back in bed feeling rubbish  Desperately trying to rest and get better for tonight as we're going to Coventry with OH's dad to watch the ice hockey - it's the Challenge Cup Final First Leg so we're going to offer our support to our team the Sheffield Steelers - it's my first ever away match so am very excited.... I hope we win!!! Second leg (in Sheffield) isn't until the end of March!!! We're on a bit of a winning streak at the minute and beat Cov at home last weekend, but they are top of the league and beat the team in 2nd place 8-0 on Sunday.......

Anyway, not much OS here today, will tidy round a bit before picking OH up from work early at 4 so we can get down to Cov...

((((hugs)))) to those who need one - especially Kyle you brave lady!!
Congratulations to the Ribbon Family and to all those celebrating anniversaries today
    Happy Birthday BargainBabe
And thanks to Moggins for the mouse story... sounds just like what happens at my parents' house when a mouse gets in!

    xx
  • Morning everyone!

Congrats to gingham ribbon and mr and baby gingham

I sent DH an e-mail Valenines card, very money saving! He clicked on it read the blurb and deleted it as 'junk mail' Didn't even see the picture:mad:

For the first time every he's not given me one - now I'm wondering
    1. Has he stuck to his word and not gone along with the commercialisation
    2. Forgotten
    3. Become an MSEer
    4. Doesn't love me anymore?

    Anyway, happy days everyone!
Doing voluntary work overseas for as long as it takes .......
My DD might make the odd post for me

    Hi everyone

    Happy Valentine's Day

Swapped cards with DH (well I haven't actually seen him as he left for work at 3am).

Had a go at making veg soup this morning for the first time - doesn't taste too bad so I'll freeze some.

Hope everyone has a good day

  • Thanks everyone for my birthday wishes, you've made my day!

(((((ageandjo))))) Hope everything turns out fine for you.
(((((hugs))))) to Kyle, TM, Moggins and anyone else who needs one today.

Well my kids brought me brekkie in bed, which was nice and then they had a fight over who was going to give me presents first, great - they can't get on well, even for one day! No, really it was lovely, DD1 has bought me a ring (bit small for my fat fingers but I've squeezed it on!) and DD2 has bought me a cute necklace saying 'mum' - other Dd has decided to wait till dad's home to give me hers. I'm swanning round like a jewelled up ladeeee .... tis fab!

Glad you are all having a good Valentines day, whether you celebrate it or not, as you know we don't send cards on it - but DH has texted me and called me his valentine ah - bless - thats the most I could expect and really rather sweet.

Feeling a lot better today, thanks again for your lovely wishes.

Catch you later (must stop myself from flying too much - even though I'm twitching to grab a duster - all my cards say relax - and take it easy! - I'd better do what they say - hadn't I ???)

    xxBBxx

Haven't read the thread yet - I'll go back and do that later. I wanted to post first because usually I read the thread and then feel guilty about the time it's taken and don't post:rolleyes:

Anyway, I just wanted to say well done to Kyle for taking some really hard steps towards recovery.

Also hugs to Moggins and everyone else having a hard time at the moment.

Was in London at a conference yesterday - Shaping Communities. I don't know how people manage to commute every day (including my DH) I was wiped out after one day:eek: .

Back to the grindstone today but must have a Fly around tonight and get the kitchen back into shape and swish the bathroom.

I'm also back on the WW wagon after a fairly hefty fortnight on the eating side - just salads for me for a while now.

    Sue
  • By the way, sorry for forgetting...

Happy anniversary Pen-Pen and many congrats to the Gingham-Ribbons!!!
