Seller wants puppy back........

I must me mad for working full time when I could live on benefits and afford £700 for a puppy!
Do you know who actually bred him? Did they know they had sold him to these idiots in a 5th floor flat?
He's legally yours as you paid the seller for him - assuming he really was theirs to sell at all. Do you have his papers?
Get him chipped and be very, very vigilant in case he mysteriously disappears out of the garden... I wouldn't take my eyes of him for a long while yet.0 -

Hi everyone thanks so much for the replies, they are all reassuring!
Sorry this is my first dog and I'm probably not too hot on dog talk I meant he is a pure breed, does pedigree mean he is kc registered? If so then he isn't. They said they got him from a breeder and showed me pics of his family but to be honest once I had seen where he was living I knew I was taking him home!!
The only papers I got was his vet papers confirming that he has had his injections. I'm so stupid that I paid cash and therefore didn't get a receipt!
Hopefully if I ignore all further contact then they will get the message, it's just they didn't seem like the nicest of people which is another reason I feel uneasy!
And just to confirm she thought I was crazy to get him neutered when I could make money, and also she said that I could earn money of I let him work at the airport as a drug dog!!!0 -
Is it a spaniel? Drugs at the airport? God, those people have some ideas......
If he is not KC registered..... sigh.....
But you know what? That reminds me so much of how I got Zara, so similar that I was wondering if this may be the same people.
Again, dog in a small flat in a tower block, little girl crying, showing me photos of Zara's mum/dad and telling me she is pedigree (no KC reg) when I knew she was not but by that time.... already went there with a lead and collar in my pocket, haggled over the price as the dog was NOT pedigree and took her home. MIcrochipped her, vaccinated etc...
Kept on getting emails asking for photos that the little girl is crying etc etc.. Did send some photos but then askign to let them know when she has puppies as they would want a puppy (???!!!) from her. Replid she will not as I was going to neuter her at 6 months - big upset from their side etc etc....
After few weeks, closed the email account that they had and stopped all contact.0 -
yeah sounds like she wanted rid because it was probably weeing and pooping in the home..
she sells it, the bloke comes home, she said i sold it and they are gonna chop its nuts off, he's gone mad...
doubt the 14 year old is starving herself in upset either, its emotional blackmail.
You bought the pup he is definitely yours.
How would it be if you bought a loaf of bread from asda and they ring and say they changed their mind they want their bread back...0 -

she's also mis informed.customs use trained sniffer dogs for airports and ports YOU could not rent the dog to customs, what planet she on?
without registration papers its just a breed type and not worth as much as a registered breed.
good that you had this dog out of there, god knows what they would have used this dog for!
no dog should be kept to one room either, what were they intending to do when they had another to breed off and had 6 pups confine them all.
dont even communicate with them, if they call say sorry you have the wrong number.0 -
They seem VERY odd indeed. And what bizarre things to say to you about working as a drugs dog and breeding off him. Maybe that's what they were planning when they got him thinking it would be a way to make a fast buck! Poor little devil.
I'd say the same as others on this thread ... block their number, possibly report the matter to the police just so that it's on file along with their address/phone number. When these people find you're not responding for a while there's every chance they'll try using another phone hoping you'll answer.
I don't imagine you do/would but you don't leave him in the garden alone at all do you? I wouldn't at all for a while just in case to be on the safe side.
I think some vets (I know ours does) do automatic chipping when an animal is neutered now. Are the vets details on the inoculation papers you got? Might even be worth ringing them just to double check details.
Good luck0 -
No he's a beagle not a spaniel. He's lovely though and has settled with us so quickly!
So he can still be a pure beagle even tho he's not registered but u can't then class him as a pedigree? When I sorted the insurance online yesterday it asked if he was a mixed breed or pedigree and I chose pedigree! Just want to make sure I haven't invalidated my insurance!
Think I will just block the number now, I'm sure I'll feel less panicky about it as time passes!0 -
Oh and yes I have the vets details and phoned them and the confirmed he has had his injections apart from kennel cough and he needs his up to date flea and lungworm treatment. Will get all of that sorted Sunday0
