    its prob a scam
you buy puppy off them in cash and then they buy it back with fake money.

I have just read the whole thread and this is exactly what crossed my mind from the begining especially when the offers kept going up.

Possibly trying to buy him back with fake £ 20 notes which are circulating.

Either that or they are hoping you accept the high offer and turn up with the dog and they steal him from you. Leaving you out of pocket and without the dog.

Honestly, they may well just be a bit odd and missing the puppy, having sold him without thinking it through. There are plenty of odd thoughtless people out there who aren't criminals!

When I was 14 I'd have been beyond distraught and would never have forgiven my parents for selling a puppy I loved, the teenager could be making her mum's life a misery right now!

I thought this could be the case too and actually felt sorry for the young daughter if this is true. It does sound a little odd though, although it hasn't been very well planned if their intention was to steal him as they do not know where the current owner lives. They could have quite easily got someone to wait outside and follow the new owner home to get the address if they wanted to steal him back.

A very similar thing happened with my late MIL, she bought a dog from a couple with young children. They said they couldn't afford him and he needed some medical treatment. Few days later the phone calls started, she was distressed as she was worried about the children who were upset and also a bit frightened as the calls were getting a bit nasty. Well I was there when they called again, I spoke to the woman and told her that is she called again we would be going to the Police about the harassment and the RSPCA about the condition the dog was in. We never heard any more about it, only difference was they did know where my MIL lived. I think they were a bit odd and the children probably did miss the dog but the dog was definitely better off with MIL.

I hope you have heard the last of them.

  • please make getting this pup micro chipped the most important thing you do.
he sounds as if he has found a loving home with you but who knows what lengths these people might go to try and get him back. take as many pics from different angle showing markings colours etc. a cat owner that posted on a group i am admin on finally got her cat back by showing police etc pics of her markings to get them to scan her for her chip...it might sound like scare mongering but better to be safe etc

but for the mo where are these promised puppy pics:p
    we need pics
    Lead us not into temptation...

just tell us where it is and we'll find it....
  • Haven't read all the posts here but, they can't track you from mobile number, whether or not she's pedigree/ KC? whatever makes no difference at this stage either way does it? It doesn't change how you would treat her does it? you adore her and she's now got a happy caring home and the home you took her from ultimately held their interests over the puppy's so I wouldn't for a second consider sending her back. It makes no sense at all to do that in fact. What life would you be sending her to? and anyway, for the brief time the ex-owners knew they couldn't really afford her. The allergies still stand, so it's sense-less to return her on all counts really. I do understand that they miss her and that is sad, but they will get over it and when they do hopefully will realise that it was for the best for all involved.

I wouldn't post photos if I were you for reasons already mentioned. Better safe than sorry. They should not have a dog if they are just going to sell it on as if it were an Xbox. Feel sorry for the next puppy they buy (and you know they will).

Nah, I dont reckon they buy, they just get off websites where people naively post "FREE TO GOOD HOME"

No he's a beagle not a spaniel. He's lovely though and has settled with us so quickly!

So he can still be a pure beagle even tho he's not registered but u can't then class him as a pedigree? When I sorted the insurance online yesterday it asked if he was a mixed breed or pedigree and I chose pedigree! Just want to make sure I haven't invalidated my insurance!

Think I will just block the number now, I'm sure I'll feel less panicky about it as time passes!

If he's a Beagle I'm so glad you got him.As a Beagle owner I can honestly say you can't have a Beagle in a flat or kept in one room. They are bundles of energy and need a lot of exercise.Poor little thing :-( They can be fun to train though..not really a beginner dog ;)
