The people i got him from had been giving him monthly worming tables but the vet yesterday said to forget thos and just use the treatment on the back of the next for both, which i gave him yesterday, think it was called advocate or something like that? Well i gave him his first treatment yesterday so he shouldnt have worms.0

Advocate treats most worms but not all - you need to use something else for tapeworms, e.g. Drontal, Panacur, Milbemax, etc. I use Advocate monthly (mainly to protect from lungworm) and then Drontal or Milbemax once every 6 months.0

Congrats on your puppy!
Instead of adding wet food or chicken etc. onto the dry (because in my opinion once you do that you can't really go back!!! if you have a clever dog they will turn their nose up at dry after!!)
Have you tried putting a little warm water on the dry and leave it for a while to make it moist, brings the smell of the food out more too."Things can only get better.................c/o D:Ream #The 90's"

Ok, as far as the crate training goes, I would try to persevere. It will help tremendously with the toilet training as they are reluctant to soil their bed area, plus if he does it's a lot easier to clean up! Also, as others have said, it may save you from coming home to a chewed up house! Believe me, until you've had a dog that loves to chew, you cannot imagine the damage they can do!!0

I agree!
Best thing to do is give him treats / toys when he goes in it. Also there is a method where you give a treat when you close the door so that the dog learns that is a positive thing.
My dog is 3 and still uses his crate I was going to get rid of it but he loves it and by choice still sleeps in it at night (with the door open!) It is his "safe space" and on the rare occasionsomething gives him a fright he goes running off into his crate to hide! :rotfl:
Like Caroline said then when you leave him you know that both him and your furniture etc. are safe!"Things can only get better.................c/o D:Ream #The 90's"

That would be ok - Personally I think four hours is the maximum you should leave a dog in a crate for.
Yes he won't be able to run around but it's sort of for his own safety too. Puppies/dogs sleep a lot anyway so you will find he probably will just go to sleep after a while.
If you haven't heard of them Kong's are good and safe to leave when you are not there which gives the puppy something to do you just put some food in it to amuse them for a while! Just make sure you get the right size.

Vetuk is a great Pet website most things food, wormers, toys etc. are lots cheaper than Pets at Home!"Things can only get better.................c/o D:Ream #The 90's"

You'd be surprised at the amount of times dogs spend sleeping when we're gone! If you feel a crate is too confined then consider a puppypen instead.
