Dear AceCobra
My 37" Hannspree has developed a fault just after one week, I was wondering how you got on with Repairtech?
I have also posted you a PM.
Regards

Martin.
Most American (60Hz) stuff plays not too bad (slight chopping on some clips) it's European/UK HD that sucks - as such unfortunatly the set is going back, no problems with Intekx regarding this as it's in within 7 days although I'm stuck with a £35 collection fee as per thier T&C's.
Ohh well, back to the drawing board.0 -
As you seem to be the only one at the moment with this problem I have to ask what spec computer and software you are using to feed the signal - I get no "chopping" when I feed HD into it.
The computer would be responsible for conversion of the HD material into whatever PC resolution you have set (I am assuming you are trying to use a HD source of something like 1920 × 1080 at either 50 or 60) - your software then has to convert it to the PC/LCD resolution of 1360x768.
For a TV to carry the HD ready label it *has* to support 720p and 1080i at 50 and 60Hz - http://www.idtv.co.uk/Images/HDReady.doc - that would imply that it's your source end that would seem to be at fault. The TV specs also say it supports input rates from 50 to 75Hz.
You are also aware, I am also assuming, that 1360x768 is not a standard broadcast HD resolution and so the 1:1 pixel mapping is a bit of a red herring. Your PC is then doing the up/downscaling instead of the TV.
Have you tried setting your display to 1280 × 720 at 50Hz or 60Hz and then trying to connect via component? (720p standard)They promised the earth...and delivered mud. Technically though it did meet the spec.0 -

I am indeed the only one to post any problems so far regarding this specific issue, yes.
I have a good working understanding of HD and did try the suggestions/resolutions you make & others besides, all with the same result on this set - I could not get a stable resolution to run @ 50Hz - the set specs say it supports 60Hz & 75Hz for PC input btw, I cant find any mention of 50Hz - mine did not support it that's for sure whatever resolution tried.
And you are correct for it to carry the HD Ready logo it should support 50Hz & 60Hz via HDMI, I can assure you the set I had does not support 50Hz via HDMI from a Pace Hd box outputting 50Hz, it would also not accept 50Hz with the PC connected via DVI>HDMI convertor either.
Playing American clips @60Hz was not as bad as trying to play any recorded or live feed BBC HD (from my on sat card) but there was indeed slight 'choppiness' all the same, I know my PC set-up is more than capable (dual core, gigs of ram etc etc blah blah) for playing HD, I've done it on a few LCD's over the last couple of years, some capable of 50Hz some not, they all performed the task without any real issue.
If anyone is looking for a great looking, value for money 37" LCD & not concerned about possible HD/PC issues (maybe I had a duff set I don't know - I can only vouch for my experiences) then I would still recommend the Hannspree, just for me and what I wanted (expected) it to do it was a no-go sadly.
edit
For the record, Intekx were contacted earlier today & will be picking the set up tomorrow & refunding me (minus collection costs as per T&C's) - great customer service! at the moment I'm currently running @ 60Hz on my new set (I dont hang around do I!!) a nice LG and have perfect HD playback on all devices, PC & Pace HD box.0 -

Did anyone get an invoice? My TV was delivered last Thursday. I phoned them on Tuesday asking about the invoice (needed to register the warranty) and was told that they send the invoice out separetely, the guy said i'd have it in 2 days. If its not here tomorrow i'm phoning them again.
Just wondering if anyone else who has this TV has not recieved an invoice?0 -
