1000:1 is ok for an LCD, a lot of manu's state higher like LG but its not a true contrast ratio.

Not yet - trying to resist, but for the spec and for the reputation the manufacturer has I cannot justify not buying it!

Just a small matter of "wife convincing" to be done first

if you look at most of the 37 inch lcds on the market nowadays, there is not a great deal of variation from 1000:1

sure plasmas are a lot higher (which is why my main tv is a plasma) but there are not that many leading brand lcd's at the 37 inch mark that have amuch higher contrast than this set.

I have never heard of Hannspree ! Are they a good made to have like hatachi, samsung etc ?

I am looking for an LCD tv but its a mine field out there for the non techcie. Would people recommend I plump for this one for wait for a better deal ?

It seems to be £18 for next day delivery so thats not bad.

Also could see how many scart sockets on the TV. Can someone tell me ? -found it there are 2

There is no import tax on this set - the company are in hertforshire! I think delivery is free on this set.

alot of info in the manual and tech sheet.
I have to do a little convincing as well later tonight but I'm all but settled on this.

PIP/POP/HDMI/Component/VGA etc all included.
3 Year collect and return warrenty.
Read some American reviews and seems to work very well at native res's/xbox 360. I've not seen a bad review yet.

The only downside I can see is you won't get your sky remote to work with it and it cant be wall mounted.

That is true of most LCD TV's, it is because Sky have not/will not update their data base of codes.

Don't suppose they have enough money.. :rolleyes:
