Nope,
As with most things these days allot of manufacturer's have their own DOA procedures. To be honest this is a good thing in general as they'll swap the TV out. I could and still can force the issue with Intekx and get a refund, or ship the item back and let them handle the DOA but that only further serves to delay things.
I think things are more or less sorted now and its a matter of one hand not knowing what the other is doing. Intekx work in the same building as the HannsG Uk team however they outsource their repairs to a company called repairtech. HannsG told Intekx what to do, Intekx told me, but repairtech where the people they didn't accept the procedure.
Intekx have now forwarded the info and the HannsG people are gonna slap repairtech on the bottom!
I'll keep yu updated.

I'm sure the manufacturer do have DOA procedures, but your contract with the retailer would have seen this rectified much swifter and with less hassle I would have thought. Of course it's up to you how you handle it, but as a rule you should go through the retailer - especially when it's a DOA.0

the strange thisng is - if you look on the hannspree website, it lists their UK distributor as the same address as Intekx
so how the heck can they have this daft problem??0 -

Repairtech don't have the best of track records.
I would have insisted that the supplying dealer replaced the item with a new one, as they are obliged to do.
A lot of online retailers are trying this avoidance procedure these days, however the retailer is the one that has legal responsibility.0 -
well mine arrived first thing this morning
can't set it up yet as i am waiting for the stand from ebuyer
hoping not to have any problems:DHonesty is the best policy doesn't matter which web site
you are on!
if i had known then what i know now!
a bargain is only a bargain if you really need it!0 -
The plot thickens, HannsG where still dragging their heals about doing the DOA even though the info was sent from the supplier. When I finally shouted enough for them to agree to it they told me it was out of stock.
I have now emailed intekx asking for a replacement. Has anyone dug up a phone number for them per chance?

Hi everybody. I've read this thread and am seriously considering buying one of these but don't know much about HD tv so would just like to check and find out a few things if anyone could answer please.
Firstly, could somebody who has it tell me what the standard viewing picture is. I won't be properly upgrading to HD for a while, so in the meantime what is the picture like?
I've also read that some TV's have some sort of problems playing fast moving pictures, does this affet this at all?
I'll also be getting a PS3 in a few months so can somebody just confirm whether I will be able to enjoy this in full HD.
Lastly, I've got slightly confused reading about 1080i and 1080p etc etc. This TV doesn't seem to have this, is that a big deal or am I likely to want this in the future?
If anybody could answer any of this for me I'd be very grateful.
Thanks

gary - cant answer all those questions but the ones i can;
1. PS3 will connect to the TV by HDMI, so you will get HD at 720p.
2. The i and p refer to interlaced and progressive. Progressive is better.
So 720p will look better than 1080i.
This TV can achieve 720p and 1080i, but not 1080p - it does not have the resolution to do 1080p.
However from an average viewing distance you would need better eyes than a fighter pilot to spot any difference between 720p and 1080p.
Re the future - who knows - 2160p is on the way and they are testing higher resolutions in the lab - its like all technology.
The simple fact is that this is a good budget LCD for now that will look great in HD at 720p.0 -
The other simple fact, worth mentioning, is that unless you have an undying need for a flat panel TV right now, you will, of course, be much better off waiting until you have some HD content to view before rushing out and buying a HDTV set now.0
