Very odd weekend here, don't want to it too much detail in to protect the innocent but lets say someone I am close to appears to be in an abusive relationship. And small villages are prone to gossipy over exaggeration. I have changed career this weekend and wanted someone to be arrested! Also I managed to get into a pub that was closed!
Aren't I clever? I now remember why I don't bother to go to spend time in the familial village anymore. It is beyond ridiculous! Back at home now where when I go to bed I am not gossiped about by others and I don't end up with random changes in my life history!

    Hello Missrlr,

Gosh you've been having a busy time recently, haven't you? Know exactly what you mean about village life; infuriating but hilarious at times.. :o

Am sharing your concern about Doglet. Have you noticed whether he has difficulty peeing? It's a vet job I'm afraid as there are a few things that can go wrong with the waterworks - usually treatable or so it's been for my various pets on all but one occasion.
Not cheap though if Doglet needs regular medication and/or a special diet - as DH is alas, now unemployed [hopefully only very short-term] might it be worth registering as such, just to get access to free veterinary care?

Am keeping all digits crossed for your family; less stress for you at work, a new job for DH and a good outcome for Doglet. :)

Thanks Robin, DH has a new job, he starts next week. We got the official paperwork through on Sat but didn't have chance to read it until tomorrow. It looks fine from a quick browse. It keeps the wolf from the door.

Village gossip is just infuriating. You can't prove a negative. I cannot provide any evidence I didn't enter a pub, didn't say I was going to get someone arrested didn't claim to be working for a governmental organisation. I mean I ask you when I was told this I actually sat down and laughed and said "really does this even sound likely?" Even sister had to admit it was a bit far fetched when I questioned her about it.

I will return to my usual tactic of not going back and not speaking to anyone there literally go to Mum's sleep eat and come back home. No interaction required.

Thanks for the support we seem to be over one hurdle financial but facing petty gossip and that is hurtful. I really should learn and just not get involved

You've probably heard 'Step 32' in a game of Chinese Whispers.. Sometimes unpleasant because bad news makes better gossip for small minds.

Thanks Robin, I should see the funny side, aside from at the moment like you there is a worrying MH issue embroiled with this. All these rumours seem to be designed to cause more problems in that area. No idea how to handle the MH issues at all so feeling very useless presently.

I know from bitter experience that small minds and gossip usually focuses on the "outsider" especially one who has "got out" and does something a bit different. Most of the reason i didn't spend time in the village and I haven't for many years gone back to the village and indulge in a few drinks, usually I go and eat go home. This time I did exactly that but in BIL local not the other pub in the village.

Result rumour and innuendo abound. The only thing I can think gave them any excuse was when I walked home (alone) there were some comments about did I want company could I walk home safely. I brushed these off and carried on. You just can't win so best not participate.

Seems to be very unfair not only do I have horrible feelings of utter uselessness and no idea of what to do for someone I have a lot of time and respect for, but someone else is actively aggravating the situation being totally unhelpful and it has the potential for seriously hurting people I love.

Just when matters fiscal and DH and I seem to have taken a step in the right direction another pile of poo raises its head. I will not fall into the trap of being poor woe is me, this is not helpful

Hugs honey as sounds like things aren't too pleasant outside the home at the mo Just remember though, you didn't do anything to deserve the gossip, they are probably jealous of you and what goes around, comes around.

It appears others are aware of the issues, and the collective opinion seems to be that we can make offers of support but at present until there are acknowledgements of this from those affected nothing is going to be effective. We are all just of the opinion that at present the risk of isolation is too great if an offer is misconstrued and this will undoubtably hurt those I love dearly.

I hate "watching briefs" makes me feel utterly useless. I am reading up on the matter to see if any inspiration strikes and trying to ascertain if there are other help sources available ....

Also had some sad news that a dear elderly aunt has been taken very unwell. So I will be postponing and rearranging my birthday celebrations as we have to be available to care for her.

Aside from that DH and I have blitzed the house, sparklingly clean and food for the coming week. We have the bones of a new morning routine to start us off so bring on next week!

Well so much for not doing any washing on my birthday .... Dog came in covered seems to be no change in poorliness status although no worse. So washed carpet, his bedding, sofa .......

Day is slowly going to pot ...... Always happens when birthdays and parents are involved
