    Give us all a break - he made a mistake.

    And that is not as hateful as drink driving.

    Just for the record, I was talking to a friend a few days ago, some lad he knew had 12 cans of lager drove home, knocked someone down (who thankfully were not seriously hurt) and got away with a 12 month ban and £180 fine and just to rub it in, he also does not even have to re-sit his test when his ban is up in 12 months time. Work that one out please?

    I read his post as he didn't have insurance in Oct when he got pulled over then.

    I assumed that he had insurance between being pulled over and today as he appears to still be doing his job between October and now.

    You cannot get your car back from the compound unless you have insurance.

    Not worth wasting time and energy comparing yourself to other people.

    A mother I know got banned for drink driving. Even with her licence back, I don't know that I would ever be happy about my children going in a car with her in the future.
    :heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.

    As two posters have said, for considerably less than 1 month's salary you could get a 125, take an afternoon's CBT (less time than sorting out a driver), and get insured for it.
    Then not only have you solved the immediate problem cheaper than you otherwise would, but you have backup transportation when you do get your car back on the road.

    If travel is so important for this job (and I have family who do similar work so I know it is), it seems like a real obvious choice to me.
    To ride a 125, you need;
    * Your provisional (already got I assume, I don't think that gets revoked for a non drinking offence but I'm prepared to be wrong) - You'll need one in any case even if you do have to re-apply.
    * A CBT certificate, which you can obtain in 3-4 hours after an afternoon's training (easy as pie),
    * Insurance on the bike (cheap as chips compared to a car - Mine was £80p/y with no experience)
    * And a pair of L-plates.

    I commuted 40mi per day like this for 2yrs, on all types of roads inc 3-lane a-roads which are motorways in all but name, and in all weathers.
    You can carry a tonne of gear, and it's immensely practical, and cheap.

    The CBT, which isn't actually a test (their job is to train you, not test you) doesn't have anything like the rigmarole of a full-blown test, you simply ring up a training school & book a slot - Most will have loads of free spaces this time of year, and if one is full up, go on Google & find another one locally.

    In fact, depending on how hard you get bent-over by the insurance over these 6-pts, it might pay to stick to the bike for a year or two after you get your car licence back anyway. :)

    Not an ideal solution if you're used to riding around in climate controlled comfort for however-long, but it would work, work out cheaper than almost any option that includes the word "car", and you would end up with an asset, one you could either sell on, or keep to make your overall transport situation more robust (the logic of backing-up applies to vehicles as well as anything else, as I learned today when my commuter-bike failed it's MOT over a worn tyre).

    Best of luck to ya'. :)

    First thing to do is to register with pepipoo & post here http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showforum=5 on the insurance issue... if Hastings cancelled without informing you there might be some mileage there but as you entered a guilty plea maybe not? They are the best guys to ask.

    On the revoked licence bit... get yourself booked in for a retest asap. Do you have any retired relatives who could ferry you round for a bit of petrol money in the meantime?
    it is a drivers responsibilty to make sure they are insured for the car they are driving .

    Then that lad should count himself lucky the pedestrian wasn't killed as that is a madatory prison sentence of seven years I think. Not sure the exact number of years but it's a long time.

    Don't start panicing and saying it's the end of the world, you lost your license it's not the worst thing that could happen to a person and you will sort it out you just need to know what to do now.

    In regards to work, could you not book some holiday time to cover you until you resit your test. You may be lucky to be able to take them both next week if there is any availability.

    Money wise, could you not sell some items you no longer need to cover the costs of the tests? Perhaps find a local selling group on ebay and sell that way. Free listing this way on ebay too.

    If worst comes to worst explain to your employer what has happened and tell them how you intend to sort it out, timescales etc. I think you will find them more understanding then the courts are to be honest.

    I hope you sort it out, sometimes life throws a heap of carp at us and sometimes we aren't quick enough to duck out of the way, he important thing is to pick yourself up, wipe yourself off and not make the same mistake.
    Comping wishlist for 2017
    1. Family holiday 2. Christmas presents :rudolf: 3. Fishing stuff

    Thanks for that, it is an option, the problem is how would I carry 30-60 files, a laptop along with a few other items, thats the only thing I would have problems with when getting a bike.
