Am I right in thinking that you still have a few days before you have to stop driving? That will give you some wriggle room? Could you take some holiday?
Does your wife drive?
You may not pass your test first time, so bear that in mind. If you register for cancellations, you could be on the road again pretty soon.
It won't take you back to square one because you have ten years' experience now to help you deal with it.
no my wife does not drive and I will do all I can not to get in that position again and I am going to keep this job if its the last thing I do!!!
I would even pay someone to drive me about if I had to, this job means the world to me and the potential is unreal right now, with the knew apprenticeship scheme coming into force for employers helping young people back into work, its were I want to be. The incidant happened while I was in my old job also, maybe if I wasn't working 60 hours a week on a night shift I would of been more awake to the situation I found myself in

If I had seen your first post I probably could have got you off with the no insurance if you still had the certificate and they could not prove service of cancellation. Plenty of case law dictates that you are insured for purposes of the road traffic act until the company has correctly served notice that it is revoked.
If as you claim they never notified you, you would not have been guilty of the offence.

Awful situation; you've made a mistake (nobody's perfect), but you aren't the scum of the earth! Also, on the holier than thou thing, there is an insurance fund to cover 3rd parties in accidents involving uninsured drivers, so don't let that thought haunt you. Fortunately nothing happened, so it's just as well to park that thought anyway.
In terms of ideas to try to keep things bumbling along:
- It would be handy if your wife and/or friends could drive you places.
- You could use public transport (for example many people commute into London, so it is possible).
- You could get taxis to fill in the gaps.
- a Trolley pilot's case might be sufficient to carry things around.
Good luck!
Some years ago I know someone who accumulated points and was facing a ban. He tried to argue the "I've got an important job" angle and the judge told him if he was that important then he could find himself a chauffeur!0 -
You must tell your insurance company, if you haven't done so already.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0

May be worth giving these people a call and getting a quote for a driver http://www.driverhire.co.uk/Microsites/Teesside/Contact-Us/. I found them by googling, don't know the company, so don't know if they could provide the service you need.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Thanks for that, I have got to plan this because I have my fine to pay, my bills to pay and my prov liecence and both re-tests to pay. So I need to find out how much I would need to pay someone on a daily basis, I would not need to pay for fuel because I have a company fuel card so this would cover them costs, also I would try and ask my dad to see if he could cover the north east region for me.
I also need to find out how quick I could get my tests in for, does anyone know of someone who has booked a cancelation test and how quick they got it?
Also on my letter recieved from the DVLA it states this:- To recover all previously held full entitlements the retest must be for one of the categories held prior to the revocation.
What does that mean?0 -
Problem is with having got 6 points and revoked licence can you afford the increased insurance premiums.
You will need to declare all this when taking out a new policy otherwise the hole will get a lot deeper.
Public transport and taxi's seems to be your main option. Get yourself a case on wheels to carry all your stuff.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Another google search : http://www.drivingtestcancellations.co.uk/buy.aspx
See if you can find some online reviews before you buy it, although it seems to be £20 so may be worth the risk. (You may also be paying for something that is freely available by other means).:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. (Can't edit my posts). Presumably you could book in your test now if you can find a suitable cancellation.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0

I have come up with a plan after racking my brain all day, this is the plan?
I am going to ask my dad for a loan of £4000 yep I can hear some of you screaming out loud but hear me out!!!
First I would get myself a driver for a month and bear in mind I will be paying the fuel so I would basicaly just be needing someone with a car and free time. I would pay them one months salary.
I would then pay for one years insurance straight up and my fine.
I would then pay for my re-tests and would try my hardest to get them out the way within one month. If I have anything left I will give it back to my dad
how does this sound?0
