Sister's Birthday Present - mini rant

Thanks everyone.
It's not exactly a job, just an extension of my voluntary work but something I'll get paid for, it's not very often or much pay, but it's a step in the right direction.
I'll be speaking to sister tomorrow so I'll let you all know how it goes.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
Do you have lots of friends? Do you NEED to stay in contact with your dad and sister?
I know they are "relatives", but what does that actually mean? There is no rule in life that means you HAVE to stay in contact them, even if they're mean to you!
Personally I'd just send birthday and Christmas cards, then make no other effort to contact them. Your friends can become your new family!
was just about to say this!!
think about what you would do if it wasnt your sister doing this but a friend.
you shouldnt have to put up with being treated badly just because its 'family'0 -
I agree with what the previous poster(s) have said. Just because you are related to them, it doesn't mean that you have an obligation to keep in contact with them, especially if they are mean to you!
Anyone that treated me in this way would get dropped like a stone, it wouldn't matter if they were a friend or a relation!

Well I've just spoken to her and she says that she didn't get me anything because she wasn't going to see me, but was planning to get me something before next time we meet up.
She says that if I let her know what I want then she'll get me it, and if I can't think of anything she suggested buying me some merch at Leeds Festival. It's not until August, but it is something I want, would be buying for myself, and so if she gets me it it'll save me money - I'll be skint in August and she'll have money then, so it works. If it happens...Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -

So that explains why you didn't get anything last year for your birthday or a card this year with the message "I'll treat you when we meet up in August"?
She's feeling guilty now you've brought it up with her. Whether she still feels bad enough by August to follow this through will be interesting.0
