When I try to register it says I need to download the password safe. However, when I try to do this it keeps saying

"Unfortunately, we haven't been able to successfully register you for Egg Money Manager. It's likely that a connection error caused the problem, so please try again. Just select the link below to give it another go now."

However, although I keep "trying again" as it says, I always get the same message. Obviously, somewhere my computer settings are blocking it. Does anyone know what settings I need to have my computer on for this password safe to download please?

I've had a bit of a battle with EGG over this free £10... I have been using Egg money manager for some time (since early 2004) and when I saw this advertised and saw that it said for existing customers too I thought, great free money!

I email them to ask when and where I would get the money put into (as at the time I had a few egg savings accounts - now moved to A+L). They responded saying it will be put into one of my savings account by the end of play on the 6th May.

It didn't go in.... When I emailed them they responded saying that as I signed up before the offer was made I didn't qualify... !!!

I hadn't saved the terms but I thougth it said I could...

So, I complained via email to them and said I was prepared to move to First directs money manager equivelent as they had been messing me about with this £10 (not 100% sure if I would have but the thought was there).

They promptly replied saying that I should have been told I wasn't to be given it when I asked about when it would be paid in but they will give me the £10 anyway...

Sure enough the £10 went in an hour later...

    :-)

    Here's the T&Cs:
The £10 Egg Money Manager reward is available to Egg Savings customers and Egg Card customers who register and add at least one non-Egg account to Egg Money Manager between 1 May 2005 and 31 May 2005. The £10 reward is also available to Egg Savings customers and Egg Card customers who have already registered for Egg Money Manager and activate it by adding a non-Egg account between 1 May 2005 and 31 May 2005. The £10 reward will either be credited to your Egg Card, or credited to your Egg Savings Account by 8 July 2005. If you have an Egg Card, and also hold an Egg Savings Account, the £10 reward will be credited to your Egg Card. If you have multiple Egg Savings Accounts, the £10 reward will be credited to a specific account of our choosing.

It appears that existing customers are eligible if they "activate" it by adding a non-Egg account. So, I assume if you've already added a non-Egg account in the past then you're not eligible. It's not clear what "activate" actually means though - needs to be worded better IMO.

I've got a MAC and had to open the Microsoft Windows XP file to connect. I too got the same message but then read that I had to change my "Active-X" settings. I rarely use the windows package on the MAC so can't tell you off hand where to find it, but I think it's part of Internet Explorer. But EGG gave very clear instructions as to how it should be set (I'd never even heard of Active-X until then!). I followed their instruction and it worked!! Now, I'm just waiting until July to get the £10!

Try it again and see if Active-X is mentioned towards the bottom of the "try again' page.
Or maybe someone on here could help?

Thank you for your help but I already altered my settings to what they said as that message came up the first time I tried to register. I should have mentioned in my previous post that the message I get from them now is subsequent to me changing my Active X settings to what they said the first time I tried it.

    Now I'm concerned...

I use an imac at home and had to use the Microsoft prog with Windows XP in order to download the mm successfully. So tonight, I thought I'd visit EGG on the normal (imac) IExplorer, thinking. After I typed in my security details, I was met by a blank page and was unable to see any of my details or even clog out of my account. I know this wouldn't have been a problem if I'd bothered to open up Windows XP but my concern is that I may have to go abroad for a few weeks and am wondering whether I'll be able to get into my account if I use an internet cafe? Unfortunately, I don't have a laptop and can't afford to buy one to take with me.

Any one had any experience with this? Does anyone know if it's possible to remove money manager (once the £10 has been receicved, of course!)?

soz if this been covered already, but if the details are stored on your own pc, i take it that logging in to egg off any other pc will not show your accounts... has anyone tried this?QUOTE]

Yes i have tried loggin from another PC and guess what? The other account details cannot be found.....

It all makes sense cause the details are kept on the PC via the activeX console. You use another PC and you have to register your details again (after downloading the software again)

I haven't actually seen my £10 yet. After various email - they have promised to transfer the tenner in my current account this week.

A few weeks ago when logging into my Barclays online banking, a message was shown saying they had changed their terms and conditions because of these services.
If I remember correctly it said they would not be liable for any online fraud if they found out you had registered their account with one of these services.

I think you have the nail on the head! OK, Egg may claim that their system is secure, but what is the point in making such claims if your own bank will refuse to pay out in the event of fraud? I was reading A&L's terms and conditions a few days ago and that had a similar clause.

I assume that such clauses would not affect the use of products like Microsft Money, that do not actually know how to log onto your account.

Well what do you know, now they're offering £15. Typical, I set my accounts up yesterday when it was £10..

With money manager installed on your home PC, you can still use other computers to log into Egg, and you can also log in directly to your other bank as well through the bank website. The money manager is just a way of seeing all the accounts together, which will be possible on any PC where you have installed the Egg Money Manager download.

More importantly, you mention wanting to log into your account from an internet cafe... this is a BIG no-no. Using a computer in an internet cafe for banking is EXTREMELY high risk... anyone could have installed keylogging software on it to record your login details. I would never use an internet cafe PC for anything other than surfing.

I know it's not an ideal solution, but those running Linux might be interested to know that Egg's Money Manager works well on IE in Crossover Office (see http://www.codeweavers.com/ ) on Linux.
