With EMM, all the comms to and from your other banks is done via your PC only. To your banks, only your IP address will show and nothing goes via EGG. All the work is done by the bit of software you download whan you get EMM. EGG has no idea how many or what your other accounts are.
The same software is used by a few banks already.

If you are using anything other than Windows and Internet Explorer you can forget about using the Egg Money Manager.
For some unknown reason, Egg has chosen to use proprietary, non-standards based, Microsoft only code for the EMM. If you prefer to use Firefox, Opera, Safari, Mozilla or another operating system such as Mac OS 9, Mac OS X or Linux you're out of luck.
Microsoft Internet Explorer is known for being one of the most insecure, non standards compliant browsers you can get, yet Egg make it their ONLY way of accessing the service.
I find it strange that they can easily make the rest of their site work with other browsers and operating systems, including the secure Egg Card, Savings and Loans sections, but not the EMM.
Other banks are able to allow secure access to other browsers and OSs, so why not Egg?This message was posted by a Mac0 -
Great spot - but the application only appears to support Windows operating systems. So if you have a Mac (like me) you cannae take advantage either of the software or the £10 offer.

Be very careful with this system as there are several banks that have said that if there is any fraud on your account they will not accept responsibility. I don't know the full story but jujst be aware!0

:T Have just registered for this I missed the last deadline as was on holiday. I have just registered one of my low use credit cards and intend to remove once I have got the tenner. Is this credited to the Egg card as we no longer use it and have only kept it going to get the birthday 6 month 0%.
This is my first post but have been following Martin since the early days. All power to the consumer !!!0 -

Once again Macintosh users are being discriminated against because of Egg's use of proprietary Microsoft Software Explorer for PC only! The Mac version of MS Explorer 5 attempts to download the Windows version of Explorer. How stupid is that. Just because proprietary software is used. So much for keeping the Internet universal and inclusive.
To save time I want to let Mac Users know that Safari, Firefox and Explorer do not work because Egg's software requires ActiveX which does not exist OSX i.e you cannot use Egg's Password Safe which is for Windows only.
Anyway, we don't need any proprietary password safe software because OSX comes with this as standard - Keychain Access. Apple once again one step ahead on Windows :-)
So, if you are using an Apple Mac and want to grab that tenner, then you will have to use PC emulation software or use a friends PC to download Egg's Password Safe.
Please make time to complain to Egg. They should not be allowed to use "island" solutions (even if this PC/Windows island is quite large ;-)0 -
hi this is my first postKarlB wrote:Once again Macintosh users are being discriminated against because of Egg's use of proprietary Microsoft Software Explorer for PC only!
first i would likt to point out that this not discrimination as you have a choice of what type of computer and browser you use,
discrimination is defined as treating one person unfairly over another according to factors unrelated to their ability or potential, such as age, disability, sex, or national origin.
I have used Egg Money Manager for almost a year now and i am VERY happy with the service. as it allows me to veiw all of my accounts in one place without having to remember ridiculous codes and numbers.0
