I am concerned that accounts open up all by themselves when I log in, then they log out again

I got blocked by A&L because I used EMM.

I was getting a lot of phishing emails regarding A&L

I wonder if they are connected?

An unfortunate way that Egg have chosen to implement it. The one I use allows you to pick and choose when you update some/all. And when you first load it, it shows the last data without having to update.

Was this after you told them you were using it? Or, this is ringing bells here, there was one institution a while back that no-one could log into for a while because the institution changed the login procedure and it took a while for the change to be adapted to - it might have been A&L. Someone who uses Egg and A&L reading this may be able to confirm it was them, and it was just co-incidence.

Doubtful. You only notice the A&L spam because they're partially relevant to you. Do you count/notice the spam for institutions to which you don't belong?

I can get into A & L but am changing that now and will try AccountUnity.
  • I have already signed up to EMM last time they had this offer back in May? i think this year. I thought they might do it again so saved a different account to see if i can sign another account up and get another tenner.

Does anyone know if you can do this?

EMM is brilliant, i was a bit scared of it at first but now i use it all the time and have had no problems and if anybody wants to steal my debts they're welcome to them.

Egg also pays cash back which is great and gives instant cashback from various websites.

Always check a price comparison website in case its cheaper elsewhere even including a cashback incentive. I like https://www.find-dvd.co.uk the best it beats the old ones like kelkoo hands down. This has even more links to comparison sites for other electrical goods. Its not always complete though on other stuff as it is with dvd’s.

    FIGHT THE SYSTEM
  • We have all come across the term "Having all your Eggs in one Basket"

Take the £10, cancel Egg Money Manager, and then delete the ActiveX, before Egg, or someone else takes your money.

the idea of the egg service is that all the information is stored on your computer, if you log onto egg from another pc/location, you cant access any of this information, unless you download the activex control again and add your accounts.

the only way someone could steal all your money is if you was to give them your details (very silly) and they would still need to set up their details to take the money!!!

the point of the acticex control being stored on your computer makes it secure, as the only people who can use it are the people with your logon to the pc, and with your egg logon details, and i imagin that would be you, and no one else.

another thing, which would apply when using any online banking, would be to make sure you have the latest and best antivirus and firewall installed on your pc.

i've claimed the £10 this time, and have also claimed it twice in the past, just by removing all my accounts, uninstalling the activex control and deleting all ie history and temp files, rebooting and logging back onto egg. add your accounts and in a little while £10 credited to your egg card!:money:
Debt at highest (april 2005) £19000
    Current Debt (september 2006) £7600

Mortgage Pig = £31.43 and we move in on Friday (6/10/06)

    :j £2 savings = £22 started 1/9/06

No reflection on the OP, I am furious to the point of apoplexy with Egg.

As part of the registration process they request your customer PIN. This is common practice among phishers, scammers and other assorted scum, and is the usual way I identify e-mail and offers as such.

It is sickening that a "responsible" financial institution should adopt the methods of fraudsters, they should know better. What's next, offers for viagra, penis and breast growth hormones?

    Prats.

But i'snt that your internet banking registration pin, the one they send you when you register? It wont be your card pin as how do they know which ones you have, i.e debit card, credit card etc.

Ive just registered for Nationwide internet banking and they sent me a pin which was needed to register online.
