I too was wary about putting my bank account on the egg money manager even before Barclays changed their terms, which was why I didn't set it up. When the offer of £10 came I set it up and added a different credit card (that I haven't used since I transferred the balance to a 0%). I got the £10 and will probably remove the other credit card shortly.
Strangely, I found out I had been scammed on my Halifax credit card by signing up to the Egg Money Manager, as it revealed my balances.

I noticed an outstanding amount when in fact it should have been in credit by £15! I followed the link to the Halifax website and immediately rang the bank and cancelled my card, which I hadn't used for over a year and had cleared my balance but for the credit, 3 months earlier. Had I not signed up, I would have probably never realised until I went onto the Halifax website, which only when I have the time or if I specifically go on to look for a particular payment.
However, I have not had the £10 sign-up payment yet and my boyfriend had to telephone Egg and remind them that they still owed him his tenner.
By the way, First Direct offers £25 to you and your recommended friend for opening an account. If you don't know anyone with a First Direct account, I received a flyer offering £35 to open an account. The plan is, open the account with the £35 flyer details - If you phone them and say you have had one but lost it, they may still honour the offer - and then, recommend a friend to open an account, both claim the £25 each and hey, you've made £50!!! :j0 -
i also signed up for the money manager, months ago, when martin first mentioned it and am still waiting for the £10.00. they were quick to credit my account when i registered a second cardholder (the card has since been cut up and cancelled!), so i just emailed them to remind them about the £10.00Debt at worst (2003) = £35,000.00
Debt now (March 2007) = £000000000
Debt free FEBRUARY 2007!
MORTGAGE (APRIL 2006) = £96,000.00 EXTRA TO BE PAID INTO IT STARTING LATER IN 2008, ENJOYING LIFE FOR A WEE WHILE AFTER YEARS OF SAVING0 -

The £10 Egg Money Manager reward is available to Egg Savings customers and Egg Card customers who register and add at least one non-Egg account to Egg Money Manager between 1 April 2005 and 30 April 2005. The £10 reward is also available to Egg Savings customers and Egg Card customers who have already registered for Egg Money Manager and activate it by adding a non-Egg account between 1 April 2005 and 30 April 2005. The £10 reward will either be credited to your Egg Card, or credited to your Egg Savings Account by 10 June 2005. If you have an Egg Card, and also hold an Egg Savings Account, the £10 reward will be credited to your Egg Card. If you have multiple Egg Savings Accounts, the £10 reward will be credited to a specific account of our choosing.
- it also appears to apply to 'existing' customers - I don't suppose that anyone who added an account whilst they where already using EMM has received an incentive payment by any chance?.....under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam0 -
soz if this been covered already, but if the details are stored on your own pc, i take it that logging in to egg off any other pc will not show your accounts... has anyone tried this?
also, if i use the pc at work (obviously i wouldn't be - far too busy working...) does that mean when i leave there is a possibility (practical rather than realistic) that my details could be found?
or is it the user id, so that if i log in to another pc on the network i will see the details... or leave traces on that pc?
i know it's slightly off-topic, but hey everyone else has been doing it!!A shadowy flight into the dangerous world of a man who does not exist.

Your EMM account details can only be seen from a PC you have downloaded the EMM software to. :j0 -

I've had a bit of a battle with EGG over this free £10... I have been using Egg money manager for some time (since early 2004) and when I saw this advertised and saw that it said for existing customers too I thought, great free money!
I email them to ask when and where I would get the money put into (as at the time I had a few egg savings accounts - now moved to A+L). They responded saying it will be put into one of my savings account by the end of play on the 6th May.
It didn't go in.... When I emailed them they responded saying that as I signed up before the offer was made I didn't qualify... !!!
I hadn't saved the terms but I thougth it said I could...
So, I complained via email to them and said I was prepared to move to First directs money manager equivelent as they had been messing me about with this £10 (not 100% sure if I would have but the thought was there).
They promptly replied saying that I should have been told I wasn't to be given it when I asked about when it would be paid in but they will give me the £10 anyway...
Sure enough the £10 went in an hour later...
:-)If at first you don't succeed... CHEAT...0 -
It sounded like a good idea - 10 quid for minimal effort, so I signed up with a couple of accounts.
All I can recommend is that if you have an account with Intelligent Finance, DO NOT SET THIS ACCOUNT UP!!! I'm still not sure if they missed a security question, or if Egg's software mixes up the answers to a couple of questions, or always provides the same answers despite the fact that IF change the questions each login, but after the first (successful) login, which showed my IF account details and balance correctly, it then failed to do so on subsequent occasions. And this counts as attempts to log into your account online. So after 3 unsuccessful attempts, my IF account was locked and I had to ring them and get them to send me another password and set my IF account up all over again. Egg denied all responsibility, saying that I must have entered the details in incorrectly, despite the fact that (a) it worked the first time, and (b) I double and triple checked the details that Egg had stored, and they were correct.
So not impressed, I have to say.
Lots of hassle - in hindsight not worth 10 pounds...0
