£10 free from Egg

Haven't read all the posts, so apologise if someone has already said this!

When they had the £10 offer on, I signed up for EMM with DH's details as I usually log in as him so I can see all the accounts (he holds the credit card account, I'm only a card holder so can't see the credit card if I log in as me).

I then wondered if I could get the £10 as well by logging in as me and signing up for EMM in my name!

It worked, we have now got a free £20 paid to us.

I honestly didn't think it would work, but was well worth a try

As soon as we had the £20 safely banked, we changed all the passwords on the bank so it now can't access them (don't know how to delete it from the computer) so should be no problems with fraud

I have an egg loan account and tried this, they refused to credit the money to my loan account, they said it was only available to Credit Card and Savings customers. This really annoyed me because they are making good money on the interest charged to my loan account.

Any suggestions welcome ?????? after all £15 is £15!

Does anyone actually receive the £15 following Money Manager activation? I did it a few months ago but don't recall receiving any money for it.

I have been using EMM with IF for months and it works fine.

I'm still not sure if they missed a security question, or if Egg's software mixes up the answers to a couple of questions, or always provides the same answers despite the fact that IF change the questions each login, but after the first (successful) login, which showed my IF account details and balance correctly, it then failed to do so on subsequent occasions. And this counts as attempts to log into your account online. So after 3 unsuccessful attempts, my IF account was locked and I had to ring them and get them to send me another password and set my IF account up all over again. Egg denied all responsibility, saying that I must have entered the details in incorrectly, despite the fact that (a) it worked the first time, and (b) I double and triple checked the details that Egg had stored, and they were correct.

So not impressed, I have to say.

As I said I have used it for months with IF no problem at all. IF does vary the questions but EMM varies the answers accordingly!

When you set things up EMM doesn't echo back all the answers to your questions in the clear. Some have the charachters blanked out by dots so if you got the answer to a question like that wrong, that may explain what happened to you and you wold not be able to check that particular answer.

As to security that others have mentioned, passwords etc are stored in the EMM password safe on your PC encrypted. If you ask Egg they will tell you how to remove this should you wish.

For the other banks to put in a clause about not being liable for fraud if you use EMM, well I think that has more to do with competition unless they don't believe in the level of encryption they all use themselves on their own web sites.

I tried last month with this egg promotion.

I had been using egg money manager for a year, I added another online account onto egg manager in April but egg now refuse to pay me the £10 incentive.

I told them I would close my accounts if I did not get my £10, they just said go ahead then. Even for £10 they are not bothered to keep customers.

I seem already to have the egg money manager, and so am excluded from this offer. Does anyone know a way of getting round this?

Have just obtained 1 years family travel insurance for FREE!!!! Signed up for money manager with EGG, recieved £15. Then bought Travel insurance for £15. This offer is only open till the 30 June.

how long does it take to credit the account as i signed up for the money manager about two weeks ago and still have not got my £15, any ideas?

Having gone through the process of downloading the manager I cannot add any other accounts to it because I have not registered for online use with any of my other accounts.
