Just done the deed. I used to be Seeboard and was told that the discount is now 23%. Not too shabby!
Of course I never take their word for it, so I'll be checking for the confirmation letter and of course checking out what happens when the across-the-board price cuts are implemented.0 -
Hi, Sorry to sound dim, but what is online tarif. I have both my gas and electric with Powergen. and have just received my winter bill it's £371.54
for a three bed semi. Only me and hubby at home so, am I missing something!:kisses3: Everyday above ground is a bonus!!:D0 -
You receive discounts on the standard tariff for meeting various criteria: eg. buying both gas and electricity, online billing (no paper bills, you get bill notifications by email and can check your account via the powergen web site), paying by direct debit and, if you hear about them, a variety of saver tariffs.
Best thing to do is call them and see what they can do for you. I got my extra discount within a couple of minutes. Makes you feel privileged
It's a pain that the burden is put on the customer to get the best deal, but I imagine that if the fuel companies were obliged to put all their customers on their best tariff, they probably wouldn't bother offering any savings as it would be too costly for them.
And that's why this web site exists. :beer:0 -
I phoned and was put on the Extra Saver in the middle of February. I was told my discount was 16% and they confirmed this by post. I now see that my area has been increased to 23%.
Do you think I will be automatically put on this discount, or with the way that Powergen seems to operate (keep quiet about it unless the customer asks) I should ring up and ask for this discount?

If its the extra saver your on then it will be applied automatically onto your account for you.
If its the winter saver then you need to change your product.0 -
I rang Powergen and switched from Electricity Online Winter Saver to Electricity Online Extra Saver, even though on all energy switch websites it displays as Electricity Online Extra Saver 2
CS said I'd save +/- £50/year. Better than nothing....0 -
Thats because there is a new version that has been released when the prices were announced.
V2 has lower prices at present.
Not sure if the discounts are the same though so will check that on monday.0 -

Aletank wrote:I've just changed over to this tariff from the Winter saver one and have just received a letter today saying "Thank you for changing energy products etc.... AS your gas supply is maintained by an Independant Gas Transporter instead of National Grid(formerly Transco) it costs us more to supply. We like to be open to our customers so don't hide these costs in our unit prices and only pass them on to the customers they affect.
An additional charge or £42 per year(inc VAT) will be added to your bill to cover these costs. This will be split across the year and works out at less than 12p aday.
We've included our new T&C's . Please let us know within the next 14 days if you change your mind"
My discounts are 3% Direct Debit,3% Dual Fuel,3% Dual Fuel Direct Debit & 15.20% Energy Online Extra Saver.
My Gas/Elec bill is only about £400 per year, so its got me thinking if this is a good move for me ?
I received one of those letters. Annoys me that I have to pay extra to transport my gas - what a lot of rubbish! I am paying enough as it is and now they are changing more to get the gas into my property.
Atleast the discounted price should compensate the extra change.0
