Does anyone know how this new tariff compares to the ElectricityOnline/EnergyOnline Winter Saver tariffs that Powergen were previously offering?

Its a relaunch of the winter saver, I would call them and see which gives you the best discount.
With the energy extra one the discounts vary between parts of the country.
Drop them an email about it and they'll sort it out for you.0 -
Powergen put me on energy online winter saver a few days ago, If I fined energy online extra is cheaper I will change my supplier.0

This appeared in the Times today and read as if they were announcing rate reductions, but I think it's a bit of a con. It looks to be exactly the same as the Winter Saver i.e. normal online discounts plus 5% - total 16% apart from the fact that the Winter Saver ends in January 08 and the Extra Saver now extends to July 08.
Why they can't make it simpler I don't know. Or just give it to ALL who qualify and not just those who ring up.

I just phoned powergen as I am on the winter saver tarriff. The winter saver tarriff the lady on the phone told me is 16% discount until Jan 08. The online extra tarriff is 19% discount. Its only 3% but better in my pocket than those. She also offered me some of my account balence back as I am quite a bit ahead, but I think I will wait until after my March bill. Also whilst I was on the phone the lady lowered my monthly direct debit by £8 so I am a happy bunny.0

Thanks for the info OP - Winter Saver is still 3% better than the Online Extra tariff for me, so I'm sticking with what I've got - but was worth a tryDFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0

Excellent post. I'm still on the standard EnergyOnline tarriff - didn't even know about the winter saver (I must check more often!). I've checked on the comparison sites and nPower is showing the biggest saving although if I include the Tesco clubcard points there isn't much in it. It probably makes sense to move to nPower but I'm not sure if it's worth the hassle for such a small amount. Decisions, decisions................0

It's probably best waiting until all the imminent prices decreases have been announced before deciding on which supplier to choose.0 -
Thanks Geoffo M.
With the information you have supplied I can now argue my case with some knowledge.0 -

My pleasure Celtic. I'm confused by Quietgirl's response when she says they quoted her 19% total discount. All I did was to go onto PG's website and got a quote selecting the Extra Online. The resultant quote worked out at 16%, which was exactly the discount I've got on the old Winter Saver. I tried to ring Powergen tonight but gave up after 15 minutes - no worry it was an 0800 number!
I hope Quietgirl is right, and the website is showing the wrong discount. I'll ring again tomorrow.
