I am rubbish, have already spent £10 over my budget :( feeling quite disappointed in myself now. NSD's for the rest of the week!!!

Just think, if you hadn't been monitoring it, would you have spent even more?

Think positive (and I actually mean that, seeing as I'm one of the most negative people out there and it doesn't do any good!!!)

Is there a reason why you went over? Something you hadn't planned for, or forgot to budget for? Was your budget unrealistic, i.e. cutting down too much too soon? I would go careful the rest of the week, then really sit down and think what you need next week and plan accordingly.

I can rejig my money by the way I budget -
i.e. I will divide my spending money between weeks, but then jiggle it if there's an event on. e.g. I started off this month saying £30 each week, but I allowed more for one particular week (I had extra money this month by the way...!) as I knew I've got a meal coming up. I've overspent in general, which means I've had to reduce that higher week, which is at the end of the month. To compensate for that, I am going to drive, so that is one less person drinking, and I'm trying to persuade everyone to try this new restaurant, which just so happens to be cheapish... (called ZaZa Bazaar in Bristol, look it up, it looks really fun!!! Plus my mates who have been say it's fun) - also I've managed to swing it so we're going on a Monday lunchtime, ideal for deals etc if we don't go to ZaZa.

So you see (and I hope I'm not coming over as patronising) - it doesn't necesarily matter if you slip up, as long you compensate in other areas. If you don't, that's when the problems start, as all of us here know!!!

Good luck with the rest of the week :D

I have no idea which budget to take the £20 for tonights theatre tickets from =/ I got the tickets for free but they're £10 each so I've paid my second purse the ticket price. Any ideas or should I just leave it as it is?

Well I'm quite pleased with myself, managing to avoid the temptation of buying a drink for 1.20 or so at uni - never realised how much it all adds up to every week!

    Belated happy birthday LC
    Sunday NSD
    Monday NSD

I'm attending a meeting later on, I don't anticipate any spends but you never know

    Tuesday was indeed a NSD
    Wednesday NSD
    Thursday NSD
    Friday NSD

We are spending a few days staying with my parents, we had planned to arrive on Thursday but as they were updating the electricity distrubution network our electricity was planned to be off all day on Wednesday so we came a day early. I'd been planning on going home tomorrow but my parent had assumed we were staying to at least Tuesday so we are :j, we've no plans but a few outings to parks (I've packed our cold weather gear), free museums and we have a mountain of board games and puzzles to keep us all amused and all for free :money:. In addition I'll be saving on the grocery budget and OH will be saving approx £70 on diesel.

  • This was my 1st attempt at the weekly spending challenge so hope I report back properly.

I started with £40 and ended up with £10 left so I declare it a green week! :D

Sun, Mon, Tues, Thurs, Friday were NSD.

I spent almost £30 on Weds but the odd few £'s and pennies went into my Sealed Pot - leaving a nice £10 in my purse.

Well done to all the super people here who are such an inspiration to try and budget better :T
