  • Hi everyone, sorry I haven't been around for a while. I didn't realize I'd been missing for quite this long. :o

All is well in the Fluffy house but we've been very busy decorating our spare room. Our boarder who was only here Mon-Fri has moved out. She was offered a job in her home town meaning she move back to the house she shares with her partner! Good news for her, not so good for us. :rotfl:

Anyway, we decided to bite the bullet, and renovate the bathroom in the en suite attached to the spare room and obviously the bedroom as well. We were going to take our time and advertised the room with an availability date for the end of July but (un)fortunately for us we have someone moving in tomorrow! So it's been all hands on deck for the past couple of weeks getting the room finished. Today is going to be a busy day as we still have at least one coat of paint to put on! Best get to it.

I hope to be back on either later today or tomorrow to do a proper update.

  • We made it to the finish post with an hour to spare! Talk about cutting it fine. I have to say, the room looks great, even if I do say so myself. :roftl:
We even managed to fit in a trip to a local cafe for a late lunch and to treat DS's 1 &2 to a milkshake and cake for helping us. DS1 ran the hoover around the house, washed up and emptied the bins, while DS2 did some painting! Great team effort! :D

I'm totally shattered now and hungry. Having a bit of a late dinner; roast chicken cooked in the slow cooker, roast potatoes, cauliflower and carrots. Can't wait.

  • Good start to the week, a NSD and one of my customers paid their invoice a whole month early! :j How good is that? Makes a change from the ones that always pay late.

Not much else has happened today. Mr F made a chicken risotto out of last night's leftovers and DS2 made a chocolate cake for dessert.

  • Wednesday evenings have become 'no technology' nights in our house. We started last week and it's pretty cool. We don't necessarily have to do things as a family but obviously it's great if we do. It's more about getting DS's 1 &2 away from the computer for the night. They can do what they want e.g. play guitar, listen to music, read a book, talk to us, play board games... anything really except the computer. Hasn't quite worked out this week as we had a parents evening for DS1 at school and didn't get back until late and then he had homework. Better luck next week.

We had a good chat to his teachers and apart from the odd subject he is doing well and is the 'star' pupil in science. His teacher wants to teach him again next year and has asked him if he's taking her particular science speciality: biology. DS1 hadn't considered taking it before because he doesn't want to do dissection but she has told him they don't do it it's more about genetics and he's excelling in that at the moment. Way to go son! :D:D:D:D Some big decisions for him later in the year.

Today was another NSD. It wasn't planned so is all the more appreciated.

I've been busy with my crocheting recently and have made a flower scarf, a cowl and some colourful gumboots. Will post pictures when the light is good enough to take them. I'm hoping to sell them. I recently opened a shop on a NZ craft website (https://www.felt.co.nz). I've got a couple of things on there already but no sales yet.

way to go DS1, it's lovely when they give us such valid reasons to be proud not just because we know they are great but cos someone else says so too.

  • Just been out for a yummy meal with Mr F. D We had a discount voucher which was due to expire next week and were both in need of a pick me up. Twas very nice indeed and the first time Mr F and I have been out on our own for a while.

We also got our first week's rent from our new boarder tonight. He seems to be settling in well and the boys like him so that's a bonus. He works at the local DIY store and has indicated he can get us a discount if we need anything. Might come in handy as we have a whole house that needs decorating/renovating/fixing.

  • It's been an expensive day today. Some of it planned, some of it not planned. DS1 needed new shoes (planned) his current shoes have had holes in for about a month. DS2 needed new shoes but unfortunately we didn't find any, so have to try another shop tomorrow. A new pair of jeans for me (planned) as I've lost a little weight. :D I received a discount voucher when paying for the jeans and ended up buying two new tops. Oops!

DS2 spent some of his own money buying a Nirvana sweatshirt that he's wanted for some time. DS1 spent some of his own money buying a new CD. So two happy boys in the house tonight.

Then I treated me, well the house, to some gorgeous vintage inspired oven ware in pastel pink and stone (unplanned). They were in the sale and were about a third of the price. They'll definitely get used and will look good at the same time.

I'm trying to decide whether or not to put my name down for a stall at a craft fair that DS 1&2's old school is having in September. I've never done one before and am unsure whether any of my crocheted goods will sell and it costs $30. Plus, I really haven't got enough items so would have to go all out to make more. I shall give it some more thought and see if I become inspired. Any ideas, suggestions from anyone who has (or hasn't) done this would be great.
