Conquering Debts Once and For All...

  • I'm getting a little bored of being stuck in the house, what with no jobs and no money and wet weather I haven't really wanted to venture outside. On the other hand it means I've had 2 NSD's this week and hopefully today will be the third, so at least that's something positive. Although I'm hoping the weather will stay dry so I can at least go for a walk.

Last night was parents evening for DS2. Yet again, a glowing report with the usual comments from all teachers "quiet in class, behaves, we just wish he would ask/answer a few more questions". :D He has a natural talent for music, art and graphics and is in the top class for maths and working at a level above for his age. So today I have to make him lemon drizzle cake as a treat. I think I can handle that. :rotfl::rotfl:

Finally have my CV up to date and ready to send out. Now where arr those jobs??

  • Well, the weather obliged yesterday and I managed to have my walk and some fresh air. :) DS2 was very happy with the lemon drizzle cake, which we just finished after dinner tonight.

I forgot to mention we were right about DS1, he does need glasses. So we were having a bit of a panic about how we were going to pay for them when I suddenly remembered that DS1 has a Community Services Card (due to his aspergers), anyway, the upshot is, they're free. :D:D:D I couldn't believe it. Such a relief. Unfortunately both me and Mr F are going for our eyes testing tomorrow. :(

It's been a lovely spring like day here today. I managed to spend a couple of hours in the garden pruning and weeding. That'll be it for a while though as it's set to rain for the next week.

Well done on the sale of the wooly wellies!

And good news on the DS1's specs, such a relief not having to find non-existent money!

Good luck with the job hunting, I hope it's easier where you are, I'm finding it quite difficult over here.

To be honest, I'm struggling to even get my head around the fact that I have to find a job. :( I've had a look this week and have shortlisted a couple so, am going to sit down with Mr F tomorrow and put in applications.

Hello my lovely, so sorry to hear the news about the business and your need to job hunt. I will keep everything crossed that you find something really fantastic pretty quickly.

Well done on selling those lovely booties, I bet you'd sell them again and again if you made more. Will have a look at your shop later x

Thank goodness you didn't need to pay for DS glasses, that's an expense you just didn't need right now.

    Talk soon

    Love Granny x

Thank you Granny. It was a very difficult decision but one made with my head, not my heart.

Have made another pair that I'm listing later today. I've also had an enquiry from the lady I sold the first pair to for more. :D Just waiting for her to get back to me with colour choice.

Unfortunately both Mr F and I need new glasses, although Mr F more than me. So that's $400 (he needs progressives) gone out of our very meagre savings. :( I've decided to wait to get some new ones until I know what I'll be doing job wise.

  • I received the very sad news this evening that my friend passed away this afternoon. She died peacefully in her sleep at 3.23 pm after a long battle with cancer. She was a brave woman who fought for 5 long years to be here with her husband and two gorgeous children. RIP D, you will be missed.

  • Thank you Granny for the much needed hugs. This month is turning out to be quite a tough one. :( The funeral is tomorrow.

On the crochet front, I have been commissioned to make 3 more pairs of my lovely wellies. At least it's taking my mind off things a little.

Took DS1 to pick up his glasses today. He looks good in them, which is good. Although we were just saying with the amount of rain we're having at the moment he's going to need mini windscreen wipers on them. :rotfl:

  • Thank goodness this week is over. It's not one I want to repeat again in a hurry, if ever. Yesterday Mr F and I went to the funeral of our very dear friend. It was a lovely but very emotional service. In keeping with the way D lived her life, they started the ceremony with "Right said Fred, both of us together, one each and steady as we go" and finished the service with "Always look on the bright side of life". It was good to reminisce and raise a glass in her memory.
