  • So, what have I been up to in the last couple of days?? Sunday was a good day. We collected Mr F's new progressive glasses from the opticians, cost us $394. Unfortunately these were not in our budget but Mr F had been struggling for a little while (not that he said anything to me), so they were a necessity.

We then went and bought a couple of new tops in the sales, for me to wear to interviews. I had a uniform to wear for the business and have lost weight since I last had to wear 'office' clothes, so really had nothing in my wardrobe for job interviews. Well that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. :D

The rest of Sunday was spent crocheting. Bliss.

Monday morning saw me registering with one of the recruitment agencies for temporary and permanent work. Unfortunately it doesn't look like I'll be free to do any temp work until at least the end of Sept as the franchise owners want us to continue working in the business until at least then, possibly until end of Oct. Not ideal but at least I've got the ball rolling and have done all the tests (passed with flying colours by the way). ;)

I'm hoping, as we only have about 6 jobs booked in that I may be able to fit some temp work around the jobs; will have to wait and see.

I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. Very poignant choices for the funeral music, it sounds like they had probably discussed her wishes in advance, which is very hard to think about without getting emotional xx

Wow about the welly commissions! I'm not surprised though, they are so sweet and unusual, I bet you could sell any amount. What about checking the websites of 'posh' real wellies and crocheting some of yours in matching colours - rich, horsey-type mummies might pay a premium to have their baby in woolly wellies that match their own (well I would have done, which is partly why I'm in this mess :D).

Good luck with the job-hunting x

That's a great idea HN. We're in dairy and horse country so you just never know. :D

  • I've been a busy bee today. Two loads of washing done and hung out this morning. Just brought it all back in now and it's almost dry. :D I gave the house a good vacuum and tidy up. Spent some time doing a bit of job hunting and have shortlisted a couple to apply for. Then as it's been a beautiful day and I needed to go and check my P O Box (for a cheque, which wasn't there :() I decided I would walk there and back. It took me about an hour and 15 minutes (which included a little bit of window shopping). I was very good and didn't buy anything. I know, go me. :D Unfortunately the shoes I chose to wear rubbed my little toe and gave me a blister.

It's DS1's night to cook dinner. He's attempting a mince chow mein and we'll finish with a slice of almond cake that I baked yesterday.

Tonight is no technology night, so it'll be a bit more crocheting for me with a Skype call to dad later (the only thing that's allowed).

Hope you all have a good day. :D

  • Boy, do I ache tonight. I've just done my first job in 3 weeks. I needed to use the hosepipe and long window pole with accessories to clean a couple of high windows. So, I connected the hosepipe, reeled out the amount of hose needed to reach the window, walked back to switch the tap on and then moved back to pick the hose up only to find the hose had disconnected itself, so back to the tap I went, connected it up again, turned it on and managed to get enough water to clean one window when the same thing happened again. It was like something from a carry on film. Glad I only had a couple high windows otherwise it would have taken me all day. :rotfl:

  • So, Mr F and I headed off to do a house clean on Saturday. Trying to keep my costs down by not having to pay an extra person to help. Unfortunately we were stopped by a traffic cop who said Mr F was speeding. What we didn't know was, that despite being on a State Highway, the speed limit was 90 not 100 as is the norm. As Mr F was doing slightly more than this he received a speeding ticket of $170!!!

On the way back, his speed kept creeping up and I kept asking him to slow down. We almost had a row in the car as he just kept speeding. It's not that I'm against going a couple of k's over the limit it's just that we can't afford another speeding fine. We can't really afford the first one but I guess we'll have to find the money somehow! :( It's very frustrating when I'm doing my best to keep us in the black.

  • Mrs F you hae really been through the mill these last few weeks while I have been a bit AWOL. I'm so sorry.

Its not fair of me to bring things up again and mention aspects of your diary that are upsetting for you, so I wont do that, but I really hope you get a break from all this madness soon, you really deserve it.

Re the Speeding Fine, how bloody infuriating ! I suppose you cant dispute it really can you , assuming the Highway was signpoted witht he speed limit. I can understand your frustrations, the last things you need is another ticket.

Hope your day improves, keep smiling !!

Oh and I loved your Wooly Wellies by the way, have you sold anymore ? x

Oh how annoying, especially when you are trying to be MSE and not employing someone to help. They probably wouldn't have cost you $170 either. Then again I suppose if you didn't realise the limit on that road it was bound to happen sooner or later. My OH speeds all the time and often in my car which really annoys me. He previously had so many points on his licence, any more and he would have been banned, which in turn would have caused problems getting to and from work as we work in opposite directions at conflicting times. Despite this he continued to speed and got caught so I had to bale him out!?!

I've told him that if it ever happens again he's on his own. He currently has a clean licence but this is from luck not learning his lesson. It really is frustrating when its money down the drain, not only from fines and increased insurance costs but also petrol and wear and tear on the brakes, tyres etc. Still he'll never learn. Don't get me wrong I sometimes speed a bit, usually without noticing, but after getting caught doing 32 in a 30 and having to pay £80 to attend a safety awareness course, I try not to.

Anyway I hope you have a good day today.

    BFN Gx2 x
