Conquering Debts Once and For All...

  • Very pleased with my gc shopping yesterday. Managed to save $10 and still got every thing we need. :)

Mr F and I got up quite early this morning to take DS1 to his football match. We had to forfeit the game, the second one in a row, due to a lack of players. :( It's very frustrating because there are about 4-5 players who turn up regardless of the weather, distance etc and the rest just seem to please themselves. He's writing a letter to the school principal to commend the players that do turn up but would like some input from school to try and keep the team together. Such a shame, especially for DS1 who loves the game.

I've got pumpkin soup on the hob and a victoria sponge cake baking in the oven. :D Will probably bake some biscuits too once cake is done, and once Mr F is out of the way. He's busy trying to fix our dishwasher but not having much luck. Water seems to be going in but nothing is happening.

Oh, have to go... timer is beeping. I may be back later.

  • OK, so I didn't make it back yesterday. Not wanting to blow my own trumpet :p but my Victoria sponge cake is delicious. It's the first cake I've made in my new oven and the boys said it was the best one I've made in ages. :D

Mr F had a go at fixing the dishwasher yesterday without success:( so it looks like I may have to get a man in, or maybe I'll just continue to make use of the two washer-uppers I have at home, namely DS1 and DS2. :rotfl:

Good news: It looks like I may be able to restructure my biggest business loan with an extortionate APR. I don't know the details yet but hopefully can save $200 per month. :D Hopefully will find out more tomorrow.

Right, time to do my weekly baking of biscuits for school lunches and put the chicken in the slow cooker for dinner.

Hope you all have a good Sunday.

You seem to be doing so well with your cakes. :j

It seems that a few diaries I follow have all had issues with their dishwashers. :(

It's good news that it looks as though you will be able to reduce your business loan. :)

I hope the weather's fine in NZ. It's probably better than here as there have been floods over the week-end.

    Have a good week. :)

We seem to be having all sorts of electrical issues in our house at the moment. Even the tv threw a hissy fit today. :rotfl: Mr F managed to sort it out but he's not really sure how he did it. :o

It doesn't look like I'll be changing by my business loan. Long story but there are basically two loans (one has 2 years left @ 12.75%, the other 3 years @ 19.95%) . Their proposal is to combine the two, making both 3 years with an interest rate of 16.2%. I would save $120 per month, (not $200 as they stated originally) but extend the term of the shortest one by 12 months. Really not worth it as in the long run I will pay $1500 more. Ah well, it was worth trying.

I picked up a new customer today and they've booked their first job in for the end of the month. :j Also, been added as preferred supplier for another company :j:j AND been pointed in the direction of a third company. :j:j:j

Oh and today was a NSD.

Just checking in at last with you . Sorry I havent been around.

Great news on the new client.:j

Yes Mr B, you are right about the dishwashers, it seems an inherant MSE problem at the moment, but Mrs F, I am so jealous of you with your washer uperers ! My two seem to turn a very blind eye to the washing up and drying up although I did manage to get some help this evening ! :D

I need to catch up properly with your news from the past few weeks. Sounds like you have been baking some pretty scrummy cakes recently. I needed your Lemon Drizzle cake recipe when I had no internet. I must remember to print it out just incase it happens again !

  • Good to see you Pinot. :D I'm pleased to see you're finally back on line.

I'm really in two minds as to whether or not to pay to have the dishwasher fixed (a) because I suspect it's the controller that's gone and it'll be expensive and (b) DS1 and DS2 seem to be doing a much better job. They even washed the boarder's dishes last night; although I'm not sure they realized it. :p

The cakes have been a huge success although I need a little more practice to make my piped icing look good. Still as long as I get to practice on cakes for home I'm sure Mr F and the boys won't mind. ;)

Hi Fluffies, sorry I've not been around much over the last week or so but good to see you've been keeping up with your diary.

Shame it didn't work out with the loan, but you've made the right decision if you would pay more overall. Short-term pain for long-term gain as they say.

Your friend's vow renewal sounds lovely, but so very, very sad at the same time. It must have been a very emotional day x
LBM Dec 2011. Aimed, but failed, to clear all unsecured debt by Feb 2019. Finally free of unsecured debt 21st May 21!

It was lovely and yes, very emotional. I was doing really well until her son starting crying and that was it. I don't think there was a dry eye in the chapel.

Having said that, it was a happy day and the sun was shining and it was a chance to catch up with them and meet their family and friends.

  • Well, a turn up for the book, the loan company have come back with a different offer. We're not going to be rich any time soon but will save about $40 a month. It means the loan on the extortionate interest rate (19.95%) will now be a loan at 16.15% - they even halved the establishment fee. Who knows, maybe next year I'll be able to bring it down even more.

I think I must have slept funny last night, I couldn't get warm, and have a sore neck and shoulder today. I'm hoping it feels better tomorrow. Which reminds me, I must dig out my wheat pack.

Mr F and I are spending the day together tomorrow. We're going to Field Days, which is the largest agricultural show in the Southern Hemisphere and it's only about 10km's away. Mr F's employers always have a large stand and he gets a half day off, so he's taking the other half and we're makig a day of it. Should be a fun day. Oh and there's always lots of freebies and taste testing. :D

Hope you're all having a good day. x

  • Mr F and I had a thoroughly enjoyable day at Fieldays. It was very cold first thing but quickly warmed up. It was a balmy 13 degrees, perfect for a day in the great outdoors, with lots of free taste testing of drinks to warm us up. :p Lemoncello, coffee liquor and port all soaked up with free food tasters. :D Good job we got a couple of free coffees. :rotfl:

I treated myself to one skein of a gorgeous merino mix yarn. :D:D Just need to decide what to make with it. Oh and a new fancy can opener that hopefully will last a bit longer than our current one.

Came home to a lovely smell wafting from the kitchen; we put a casserole in before we left this morning. Absolutely delicious; shame there wasn't more.
