    Fluffy I'm so so sorry.

I have nothing of much help to add other than what Mrs B and Mrs Happy have already said to you . I would have also suggested the help from the airlines for your Dad, but you have since explained that that may not be an easy option.

I'm so pleased you will be able to see your friend when she visits. Hearing this sort of news really does make us realise that however much we worry about our situations, it is really a minor drop in the ocean in the grand scheme of things.

Please take care of yourself, and try and keep posting when you can so that we all know you are ok.

Sending big hugs across the ocean to you xx

  • Thanks Pinot. It really brings home how fragile life is and how very cruel it can be. It really puts things in perspective.

Today has been an okay kind of day. I usually have the radio playing while working but today left it off and worked in the quiet, well as much quiet as you can have with the hoover on. It seemed to be what I needed today.

Mr F made us a lovely pasta bolognaise for dinner and we finished off with some chocolate banana cake I made on Sunday. I think it might even be better than my famous chocolate cake. DS2 said it was the best cake ever.

Oh, and it was a NSD too.

    Hi

I suspect that if your dad had a bit of extra money then he could advertise for someone to help him on the journey..you know someone wanting to head out that way anyway. Pre 9/11 it was carrying parcels etc..obviously not now! Maybe someone could help that way..I am not sure he'd like the phrase 'carer' but you know what I mean.

It's the same for house sitting. Pay someone for a proper service if the neighbours cant be trusted.

I really don't know his financial situation but given what's at stake here, nothing to look forward to etc..it may be an occasion to throw money at it to give him peace of mind.

    Have a good day hun

Box...have to also say that we have had some bad family news recently..I can only wholeheartedly endorse the need to take care of those you love, support them all you can and don't assume you have all the time in the world. Illness seems to be no respecter of age or, sometimes, general health.

    Sending you hugs

  • I'm back. Brizzle thanks for the ideas. I'll have to look into it a bit more. I haven't managed to catch up with diaries yet but will head there later.

I spoke with dad yesterday and he is much better. He took my advice and went to the dr's who gave him antibiotics for a water infection. He apologized for worrying me and said he really didn't know what came over him as he was fine and dandy the next day.

Yesterday was ANZAC day here in NZ, (same as Remembrance Sunday in UK) and a public holiday which is handy as it it's also Mr F's birthday. We decided we couldn't afford to go out for a meal but went out for coffee and cake. DS's 1 and 2 predictably had chocolate mud cake but declared it wasn't as good as mine! :D Maybe next time I'll save my money. :p

My work car had it's WOF (MOT) today and passed with flying colours so no extra costs involved. As it's a work car, it was paid for out of the business account meaning today was a NSD!

  • Woohoo, Saturday morning and the sun is shining. I always feel better when the sun is shining. It always seems to lift my spirits. :D

Heading off to the choose some paint colours for our bedroom today. We got a couple of tester pots last week but don't like the colours we chose, so we're going to choose some different one today. The house is exactly as it was when we bought it four years ago and the maroon in our bedroom is really starting to get to me. I want something light and fresh. We'll see.

  • Evening all,

I didn't get a chance to post yesterday as we spent most of it painting. :D The colours we've chosen are a bit of a compromise between what I want and what Mr F wants. I think I might need to accessorize a little when we're done as the colours are completely different to anything we've had before!

Today's fun filled day consisted of: general tidying up, vacuuming, mopping floors, washing/drying a load of washing, baking some biscuits for packed lunches, putting bread in breadmaker, speaking to insurance company about work insurance and more painting.

It's Cottage Pie and veggies for dinner (still to be made). No rest for the wicked. :p

Oh and it's been a NSD.

Woww!! You are really claiming those NSDs...are you in the monthly challenge..I can't remember! Well done anyway!

Painting sounds good..we finally changed our front room last month..it had been that since we moved in over 10 years ago! But maroon:eek: well lighter and brighter certainly sounds the way to go:rotfl:

    Take care

Only my own! :rotfl: Had another one today and hopefully another tomorrow.

I suspect once we've done our bedroom we'll want to do the rest of the house but paint is so expensive. It costs $250 (£125) for 2 x 4 litres of paint. I suspect that's why so many houses are painted one colour.
